Has the reported spate of crime made u want to leave?

Has the reported increase in muggings and other violent crime made you consider leaving Park Slope? I am actually beginning to have second thoughts about living here. I pay a LOT of rent to live in a nice apartment in what I assumed was a relatively safe nabe. If the muggings around here are going to continue or even increase, I may as well save a LOT of money and move to Brownsville or the Bronx.

    Thats like deciding to leave NYC after 9/11 because of fear of terrorism. If people were getting murdered in Park Slope, thats one thing, but muggings and robberies are not enough to make me leave.

    I wont let anything change the way I live because I believe that if you run away from something in fear, you're bound to have something else happen to you. Like get hit by a car, or something random.

    My next door neighbor in the building where i grew up in had his apt broken into when i was away on vacation with my door half-unlocked. I tend to think its all about luck and timing, and nothing can really prevent that.
