Personal trainer

There's a trainer named John who works at the Eastern Athletic Club on 17 EP. He does half century and full century bike runs as well as running some long miles often. And on top of this he does weight lifting. I've never used him but I have seen him train others, he's oneof the few that seems to use common sense in this type of thing.

He was my swim coach for triathlon. He is also a triathlete himself, which I think is key to the right kind of strength training you want to do. Give him a try. He is a really great guy. -
Just so I'm sure, and it does sound like the gentleman I'm talking about, this is the same John who works at 17 EP?

Honestly, I don't know. I haven't heard him talk about it. He runs swim clinics through Jack Rabbit at the Berkeley Carrol school. He just turned 40, has blond hair, a slight Tennessee accent, and a really good sense of humor for my singing King Fu Fighting through 4x100 drills. If that's your man too, by god he gets around. -
There are 3 John's. All of them great guys.
John Stewart
Jonathan Cane
John Henry
I just signed on this site but if you want info on any of these guys, I can help you. I do duathlons myself and have been doing them for 15 years or so. Shoot me a PM (if you can on this thing) and I'll give you some info and some opinions and we'll figure out which guy is best for you.
Ciao! -

Nah. My guy is from the Carribean or West Indies and 44. Likes: Biking centuries, running 20 miles on a cool day. Dislikes: Phony exercisers and Joe Weider. -
I just noticed that you're not registered so you can't send a PM.
If it's strength training that you're looking for I go with (in this order):
-John Henry if you're looking to get pushed to become stronger. He'll keep you focused and tends to want to actually want to work with you to make sure you're not slacking. Sort of like a really good training partner. If I had to describe him in one word it would be "trainer". He actually work in the gym (Eastern Athletics).
or
-Jonathan Cane simply because he wrote a book called Strength Training for Dummies (or something like that). He has more knowledge of physiology than John Henry. I guess if I had to describe him in one word it would be "coach".
-John Stewart is more like Jonathan Cane in that he's a coach (sometimes a swim instructor and has a great reputation in both areas). Everybody loves him and no one I know has had anything bad to say about the guy. For strength training I'm not sure how good he'll be for you but it depends on what you need.
I've worked with all three of these guys so I really know their strengths (and weaknesses....you can't be all things to all people right?). So I implore you to join this site so you can PM me about this stuff. There is a common sense choice for you but you have to tell me about you and then I can tell you which one(s) will and will not work for you and why.
(Sorry for the long post) -
