Wedding ceremonies at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden? — Brooklynian

Wedding ceremonies at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden?

Has anyone ever been to a wedding ceremony at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden? My fiancee and I are planning on having a small ceremony there in June and I was hoping to get some feedback from others who have done so. Was there anything that you would have done differently? Problems that were encountered? Tips or suggestions? Thanks!

  • Will the reception be in 1000 Washington?
  • i was under the impression that you had to have at least 100 guests?
  • Nope, we're not having the reception there, only the wedding ceremony. The BBG offers two options - have a small, private wedding ceremony in the garden at 9AM any day of the week for 350$ (no chairs, no music, no decorations, just a group of people standing in the garden), or have the entire affair at the BBG, including the ceremony and a reception in the main hall attached to the conservatory. Our actual wedding party will be held at the beer garden in Astoria, which hopefully will be much more fun and casual than one held at the BBG - we're not going for anything fancy and are trying to avoid the trappings of traditional weddings and are aiming for more of a picnic atmosphere.
  • No idea on the guest count for having the entire thing there, but for the ceremony only option, there is a limit of 60 people.
  • The BBG is a beautiful place. That you scored a spot in June is great. I'd go for it. Ask management where in the garden it will be held and have them show you. If you and the bride to be, well mostly the bride to be, like the spot then jump on it.
  • I've been to a wedding there. The ceremony was outside I believe, and the reception was in the glass building. It was very beautiful, and the food was good. Could put you in touch with the bride (who lives overseas) if you like

We had our ceremony and reception there. I wouldn't change a thing about either - it was the most amazing, beautiful day. The staff were professional and responsive without being intrusive. Congratulations!
