Best Barbers in the Slope

edited November -1 in Park Slope
A friend and I are both looking for the best place to get a cheap mens cut in the slope. We've been sampling different places in the last year, had some great haircuts and some bad ones.

Does anyone have a favorite place for a $10* hair cut?

Thanks!

*Note: the 10$ haircut is currently around 12-14 these days.

S' funny. I always used to go to the Park Slope Barber Shop hungover on a Saturday, and they'd always give me a stupid dorky cut, and I only had myself to blame, since I was in the habit of giving them instructions that went "uuuuuurrrrrrghhhhh...". Anyhoo, I'm much more clean living now and went in the other day and gave them very nice and concise instructions, which they proceeded to cheerfully ignore while discussing in a very old-skool fashion the provenance of Golden Oldie crooners. And I still looked like a dork. I think that my stupidly shaped head just stimulates the pirates at Astor Place more. I heard nice things about Medusa, opposite PS 321 on 7th, yea, even for chaps, but haven't ventured in yet. [oops. My bad. The original poster specified a sub 15-dar haircut. Medusa is several factors of that]
  • Subject: Master Barber Orlando

Although I hate to give out my State Secrets, I go to Master Barber Orlando on 5th Ave b/w Carrol and President (about three doors down from Moutarde) He's from Cuba, does a classic cut with clippers or scissors, does not often have a line, and has great stories about old Cuba. He's been cutting hair since the time when 5th Ave was the ghetto.
  • a $10 haircut... are you kidding me? A beer is $6 a burger is $8 and you want a haircut for $10?

    Jesus Christ...
  • Jesus Christ, why don't you two try cutting your own hair?
  • I have my hair cut at Joseph's on 7th avenue between union and president. He's been cutting my hair for almost 30 years.
  • Subject: Clover on 12th & 7th is awesome; place on PPW is poor

Clover Barber. the old guy who cuts hair on the corner of 7th and 12th is awesome. he's a sweet old Italian fellow. Does a decent job and I think it's only like $12 bucks. BTW, don't visit the Barber Shop on Prospect Park West by the Connecticut Muffin. When I got my hair cut there last week, the guy who was cutting it answered his cell phone and proceeded to have a five minute conversation (while still occasionally snipping my hair) and when he hung up, he seemed surprised when I said that was pretty poor customer service. If it had been important or if he had excused himself, I wouldn't have thought twice about it, but to just keep talking on the phone in the middle of the haircut, I was kind of offended. Am I totally out of it?
  • just went to george's barbershop on 11th st. and 5th ave for the first time. nice cut and cheap too. $11. one of those places where small talk is kept to a minimum and old movies are playing on the tv. good place for a haircut and some nostalgia.
