Lost cat — Brooklynian

Lost cat

Have you found a sweet gray male cat? He went missing this morning, January 2nd, on 18th St. between 7th and 8th Avenues. He is gray with a white belly, white face, white "boots" on his hind legs and a few white stripes. His name is "Tatico", I love him dearly but I stupidly did not have a collar on him. He is 11 months old, neutered, extremely friendly. I am in a horrible position because I am out of the country so I am having friends look for him.

If you have found a cat like this, please call my friend Mike at
917-755-5788 or email me at [email protected]

Thanks and I hope this was not the wrong place to post a lost pet announcement.

Unstickied because the cat was found! See the Pets board. --Emily

  • Sorry about your cat. I hope somebody finds him. When are you back?
  • I am back late Thursday night. Any ideas about shelters I should contact?

Post on the pets board, too, okay? The pets board is under the neighborhood boards in the index.
This http://brooklynian.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=32057 isn't him, is it? Was he definitely at home on New Years Day?
If you live in an apartment building, check with the neighbors (someone on the boards once found their cat in the common hallways). If you live in a house maybe have your friends set some food out (though you don't want to attract strays).
Do you have pictures? You could post to PetFinder.com and TabbyTracker.com, and have your friend put up flyers. And try the ASPCA and the city shelter (here are a few shelters http://www.netpets.com/cats/catresc/newyork.htm )
I really hope your friends find your kitty very soon, and that he's home waiting for you when you return from your trip.
  • Thanks Violet, I just did everything you suggested, hopefully something will turn up. Happy New Year,

    Allyssa
  • I stickied this. It's okay to post LOST pet stuff on the neighborhood boards, since more eyes help. Good luck!

I am new to this posting business, can someone tell me what it is to sticky something? It´s a good thing, right?
  • It means it will stay at the top of the list of posts even when it's not the most recently commented-upon post. More people will see it that way.

However, if (when!) the cat is found, please do let us know so we can de-sticky it and go back to business as usual.
  • flyers are important. did your friends put up flyers? even if they don't have a photo, description is good. I would be so upset too ! I hope he is found. (was he a part outdoor cat or did he slip out?)

    best of luck!
  • Someone just this morning posted on the Park Slope parents board about seeing a young gray cat up in a tree in Prospect park:

Just saw a young cat, gray tiger, in a tree in prospect park, directly
accross from where 10th ave. intersects Prospect Park Southwest.

don't know if it is yours or not, might be worth checking out.
