I went to a car window replacement guy in Windsor Terrace a few years ago. He's on 7th Ave. between 18th Street and 19th Street (or 19th and 20th). I believe the owner's name is Joe. He was inexpensive and professional.

Which window is it?
What model car? -

Joe's Auto Glass, on 7th Ave just over the expressway on the west side of the Ave
Love that guy! I had one summer where the tiny triangle window on my old beater kept getting smashed to rob the nothing contained inside the car...he's cheap, reliable and nice, and will call the junkyard for used parts if appropriate. He does basic radio installs too.
sorry about your window -- it's mostly irritating . . . good thing you have nice weather for a few days.
My experience btw led to the discovery that it was one particular half of one particular block that had somebody/bodies with a drug problem, where cars were broken into. They only worked a small area, kinda weird when you think about it. -

jeep cherokee, drivers side rear window...
What model car?
I should've known better than to leave the stockpot I recieved for christmas on the backseat... I was in a rush to get to work when I move the car and realized there were still a few christmas goodies inside... (they only took the pot, I guess the dvd board game and the blanket weren't that enticing...)
thanks for the info everyone, I'm gonna call joe!!!! -
Whats a good tip for this type of service?

I would wait to see how much he charges first. Rule of thumb is you don't tip the owners. It's up to you though.

If it's a door window, it should be easy to find that glass at a parts yard. They're easily replaced - anyone with the gumption and some mechanical know-how should be able to get it done... I replaced the window of my old Audi 90, took me a couple hours, but it wasn't a big ordeal. It was a grand total of 40 bucks. -

There is (or used to be) a couple of jun....uh car part recycling dealers on third ave underneath the Gowanus. I've used them a couple of times and they're really good. You'll get used glass, but I've never had a problem with them and they'll install quickly and cheaply.
