Neighborhood boundaries... what's your opinion? — Brooklynian

Neighborhood boundaries... what's your opinion?

Subject: Neighborhood boundaries... what's your opinion?

Hello, everyone! I'm a newcomer to the forum, so please don't kill me if I say something to offend anyone :)

I have a question for the Greenwood Heights community...

Where would you say GWH ends and Park Slope begins? Also, what about Sunset Park? I know there's no definite boundary, but hopefully someone can suggest a "division line" based on changes in housing styles, demographics, etc?

Also, any interesting, little-known facts about the place would be appreciated.

Thanks a million in advance!

  • The boundary between Park Slope and Greenwood Heights is the Prospect Expressway. I think of the boundary between Greenwood and Sunset as 34th Street. I'm not sure about the division between Windsor Terrace and Greenwood Heights though.
  • Yavel, Agreed!

And don't make me throw down about this again ;)

    Some additional info: http://brooklynian.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5701

Basic boundaries in my book (and from what i can tell from the old maps is the Expressway to the North, along Green-Wood Cemetery to the South to the 30's, say the end of the Cemetery at 38th St., 3rd Ave to the West and 20th St/MacDonald Ave to the North East.

That being said, others have said that it's any area adjacent to the Cemetery, but that may be too "loose."

And even more debate as if this is a legit "area" (again, don't get me started...see my post on the above link's thread).

But, I am always up for a good discussion/debate. :)
  • The other side of the cemetery on Ft. Hamilton doesn't seem like the same neighborhood. I guess I'd put the boundary at Fort Hamilton or somewhere around Bishop Ford Highschool and the entrance to Green-wood on PPW.
  • Yavel, Agreed, just through that out there as part of the debates I have heard (been a part of :) )
