I am looking for a good cheap hair cut in Park Slope. Anyone have a good experience? My hair is out of control.

Buy a clippers, shave it off every 2 weeks.

    Cheap, managable and in style.
  • No way man.

    FLO-BEE
  • If you're looking for a cheap hc, take the advice above
  • Park Slope Barber Shop on 7th ave btwn 3rd and 4th. They're pretty competent, reasonably priced, and nice. There are 2 guys who are obviously brothers and one other guy. I think one of the brothers is much better than the other, but they look so similar there's no way I can describe which one he is.
  • My sons (18 & 5), go to The Slope Barber Shop on 5th Avenue between 6th & 7th Street (not to be confused with the place on 7th Avenue recommended above-2 VERY different places!)-it was recommended to us by our downstairs neighbor. haircuts cost $10.00 there.
  • Here's another vote for the Park Slope Barber Shop on 7th ave btwn 3rd and 4th. The prices are not unreasonable, and it's such a pleasant and relaxing establishment. The decor kind of takes you back. I think there are actually 3 brothers, maybe even triplets, they look so similar, and one other guy. They're all quite competent, and they're always listening to some great music. They know a lot about the history of the neighborhood, too.
  • Does anyone else have any suggestions other than Park Slope Barber Shop on 7th? I love everything about that place - except the haircuts. I love classic barber shops like that. Love the guys, love the music, love the place. But the 3 times I got my haircut there have been horrible! The first one I thought must have been a fluke - b/c how could these guys give a bad haircut? After having two more bad ones though I gave it up. I don't get anything fancy either - just a buzz on the sides and a trim on top. Maybe I went to the wrong guy? Is one better than the other?

I know there are a bunch of places on 5th. Can anyone recomend one?
  • this is going to be an awful way to differentiate between the two brothers, but I think the less whimsical looking one is better, possibly taller too. did anyone go over the holidays? They gave out liquor!
  • I know it isn't Park Slope but I've been going to Vincent's on Cortelyou Rd next to the Q train. It's Vincent Jr and Vincent Sr. I think they charge $11 and both are good
  • casablanca barber shop
on 4th avenue between bergen and dean
    12 greenbacks

ask the owner to cut your hair. he's the man with the glasses
they always have the tv on with either moroccan shows or al-jazeera blaring
    shave is 3 more
  • BTW - I tried PS Barber shop again last week. I had the guy who doesn't speak much English. They're classic in there - amazing jazz - a full bar for the holidays. I even though my haircut was decent this time. After I showered though - I had that mini-mohawk deal going down the middle. Horrible! This is the most classic barbershop in every aspect - just get some better barbers please!
  • other than barbers (which i've never cared for in recent years), are there any good salons that have resonable prices and give a good cut for men?

i like to keep my loks in style. :)
  • Totally agree re: the PS Barber Shop... I want it to be good, but it just isn't. The most uneven cut I've ever seen.
  • the men in my life all get their cuts at justin's on 21 street and fifth ave
except my 72 year old father who gets his cut on 12 street and seventh ave and they pay 10-15 bucks
but I guess it all depends on what kind of hair you have or/and haircut your looking for
  • Joseph's on 7th Avenue does good men's hair. or, how about The Slope Barber Shop (on 5th Avenue), that is where my neighbor goes.
  • Agree that Park Slope Barber is the place to go. Good prices, no long wait, barber shop atmosphere.
