Park Slope Community Choir
I'm not sure if anyone saw the semi-annual performance of the Park Slope Community Choir this past Sunday evening at the Old First Church, but if anyone is interested in joining the choir and singing, please see the contact information below. The choir is run by Marlene Clary, a teacher for over 30 years at Berkeley-Carroll, and this is the 6th year of its existence. There are currently approximately 50 members.
More information is available at www.brooklyncommunitychorus.org. You can also email Marlene at [email protected]. The next meeting will be on Wednesday, January 10 at the Old First Church at 7:30 pm. The choir sings an eclectic mix of music from Classical to Pop/Rock, and it is an intergenerational choir with members ages 16-70. The next major concert will be Saturday, June 2, 2007. Look forward to seeing some of you there!

Choir, add the meeting date as a calendar event, you can go back into your post and add it there

I've been interested in joining a choir since I moved to NY, but they all require that you sell a certain number of tickets to the concerts. I'm just not comfortable asking my friends and coworkers to buy tickets to performances. It's been an issue my entire life - I couldn't even sell Girl Scout cookies when I was a kid!
Choir, are you a member? Do you know if there's a way to just pay a higher amount in dues instead of being required to sell X amount of tickets per show? -
You are not required to sell ANY tickets. This is really just for people who enjoy singing--in fact, the tickets are sold at a suggested donation price anyway. The dues are $75 for each "term" of six months, so $150 per year if you stay in it all year. You of course welcome to go by and meet people and check it out first before you commit any money. Thanks for the interest!
Oh, lostingreenwoodhts, thanks for the suggestion about the Calendar. Unfortunately, because I didn't post as a member it looks like I can't go in and add it to the calendar. I'll make a point of bumping this thread as a reminder around January 10.

I belong to a different choir that has the same ticket requirement. And what I do is just fork over the money for the tickets and then invite family and friends to come as my treat.
-
Choir, I edited your post to add the event to the list. But do post again in June

Thank you!!

Bumping this thread just as a reminder that tonight is the start of the spring season. Thanks to all of you who have contacted us so far--we look forward to seeing you there tonight!
