Brooklyn Fish Camp
Went to take the wife out for her bday dinner and Brooklyn Fish Camp was closed. No sign or nutin. There usual hour are Mon-Sun 6-11 (11?). Anyway, anyone know why?

It was yesterday (sunday) and according to their hours sign & their phone message - they are open 7 days a week. -
Hmm...wouldn't be the first time. They're very inconsistent with hours. I usually call ahead.

Carnivore has a good point. If you were married to my sister-in-law, who damands star treatment on her birthday, wedding anniversary, and every day in between, you'd be a deadman posting. -

Unless you're making a reservation, calling ahead only to confirm that their sign is correct is too much to think about. -

Plus my wife was disappointed with the fact that they were closed - but shes not a crazy person - she knows its not my fault. We'll go another time (as long as they aren't closed for good...which IS WHY IM ASKING! Does any one know what their deal is/was/will be?...close parenthesis) -
Every once in a while, I've tried to go on a Sunday night and have found them closed. I don't think they're closed for good, though; we were there earlier last week...

Follow Up: We went tonight and had a great meal - as always. They had a special - chowder & Lobster Roll & Wine/Beer...$20!!!! DEAL!
I asked the waitress about the night they were closed and they were having their holiday party - fair enough, just a little sign saying "sorry, closed for holiday party"
Anyway...mystery solved! You go Nancy Drew! -

Yeah, you think you got problems. Forget The Fish Camp, Blue Water Grill, Blue Ribbon, and City Crab. I can't even get into Red Lobster. A few shameless individuals and I had coupons for lobster tails, were informed that Red Lobster does not take reservations, went to Red Lobster and could not get in -- the place was jam-packed with a wait over two hours.

What's you're favorite/worse dish at Fish Camp? I was hoping to treat myself to a meal there, but I never knew if they were really good or not. They did seem kinda pricey, but I love seafood so I'm willing to pay for great fresh fish.

I thought the lobster roll was excellent and loved their french fries--they had the old bay spicing on them, hard to find in the city.

Here is another vote for the lobster roll. The grilled baby octopus appetizer is very nice too. I have generally had good experiences with the appetizers, but the main courses (with the exception of the lobster roll) have been more hit-or-miss.

The lobster roll is great. Its "market priced" so, sometimes its a little bit of a shock when the check comes. altough, maybe check it out during the week - we got that great deal on a tuesday.

If you want the old bay seasoning on your fries you have to request it - its a nice touch! -
I find Mary's to be hit and miss. Some times the food is pretty good, other times it's average. The service seems to be consistently good. I like their lobster knuckles and steamers. They certainly beat Randazzo's. The seafood on City Island is just plain disastrous. Here's hoping for a good Dingleberrie's.
