Broken Angel for Sale — Brooklynian

Broken Angel for Sale

We just got a flyer from Massey Knakal Real Estate listing the Broken Angel for sale at $ 1.4 million. They listed it as "gutted" and "ready for renovation." I guess the artist is retiring. It says the "artistic expression" will be removed. It will be sad to see it gone. The lot next to it is also for sale. Get ready for another ....? luxury condo ?... (Is any condo today NOT "luxury"? )

  • Wait, is he selling it or the bank or whomever. If he owns it, maybe he'll sell it to a private party not some corp?

    -Here's for hoping.

He owns it clear, I think he paid around $80,000 for it, read that somewhere
  • actually i think he spent less than $3K on the main lot, in the early 80's. not sure about the other lot but it must have been cheap. i wish we had more info about this sale. he'd never sell it unless he had absolutely no choice, at least that's what i was always led to believe. it sure would suck if it had to be dismantled, million-dollar profits or not.
  • selling the lot next door would give him more than enough money to correct the code violations and get everything straight with the dept of buildings. He must be tired of the whole thing and be ready to move on to his next project. Nothing wrong with that.
  • there's an article in the NYT about it . . .
