The best tailor I know is in Prospect Heights. It's called Mi Montuno Custom Tailoring at 810 Washington Ave. (and St. Johns)718-857-3329. Tony is the owner and is amazing. He can do anything, it's not too expensive and usually really quick.

The woman in at the dry cleaners on 7th avenue between Berkely and Union does a good job. If you go, call first -- her schedule varies:

theres a new tailor shop on washington (near st. johns). i dont know the name of the shop, but the tailor's nickname is hussy.
he altered my boyfriend's trenchcoat and he did an amazing job.
he's tailoring all of my boyfriend's suits now. -
where is washington and St. Johns? What subway is it near?
Is there no actual TAILOR in park slope? Everyone I talk to says the dry cleaners... -
For my wedding dress last year I had to leave the Slope.....I ended up in Gravesend (I think?) at a place called Unique Alterations. They did an amazing job, practically remade the dress entirely, but it was a hike. The nice part was they are off the Q train, directly across the street from the station.

Speaking of tailors, anyone here have their jeans hemmed by a tailor in the area, but when I say hemmed, I mean done to look as the original pair of jeans looked, not like your grandmother hemmed them...
-
Yeah, I have jeans that need to be hemmed, every time I've tried to do it it looks awful.

Here is a site that will teach you how to hem jeans without losing the original hem..it is so easy to do especially if you have a sewing machine..or any tailor can do it in 10 minutes..http://daciaray.com/?p=38

hussy and tony are both on washington ave and both amazing. -
Mrs. Han at Randex Dry Cleaners (6th Avenue and 4th Street) did a beautiful job taking in the bust of a lace covered strapless dress. Very quick and friendly. I believe the cost was around $30-$40, which I suppose isn't cheap, but my dress was perfect when she got done with it.
