Subject: Snooky's!

What is going on? We stopped by for Christmas Eve Dinner (our new tradition) and low and behold... They were closed!!! We were informed that the bar will be upon for the week and then they are closing for renovations. Please say it isn't so!

Does anyone know what is going on? I hope the great feeling that IS Snooky's does not change.

  • i heard that snooky's is closing for good. their last late night was a couple of nights ago. they will be open for a bit longer but are closing do to some sort of rift/ split between the two partners.

i am sorry to see it go as it always seemed very old school PS to me.
  • Snooky's and Misnky's used to bethe premier restaurants/bars in Park Slope. Snooky's salad bar was the creme de la creme and Misnky's was the place for brunch. Snooky's has been going downhill for over a decade and Misnky's shut down. I believe there may only be four-six restaurants from old Park Slope that are in their original spot.
  • Snooky's rules! We will miss it.....
  • Snooky's is closing? Come on! They may not be the fancy shmancy restaurant like some others around here, but, nothing wrong with their food. :(
  • geez, i never made it inside but I was comforted that it was one of the longstanding stalwarts of 'old' Park Slope that still existed. save snooky's! is it definite? when?
  • We stopped by Snooky's earlier this afternoon and one of the waiter's was behind the bar with two regulars sitting there. They were closed but hanging out anyway. We asked them what was going on. They told us (tears) that they will re-open in two months (more tears) more upscale, better menu......

    Waa.....

So sad! Hopefully they will keep the same staff. We were always treated very well.
  • My friend was a waiter there, and he got laid off - I think they let everyone go. =(
  • Even sadder... more tears!
  • Crap on a stick. I always liked that place, some friends of mine were married there - and although it ended badly, that ain't Snooky's fault. I am not happy about this, but I was probably in there once a month instead of a couple times a week so maybe I took them for granted...

  • I heard one partner was buying out the other and will be doing renovations. I don't think it needs it but maybe they are trying to reach a different crowd. A lof of church goers/elderly people frequent there. We've been going on and off for years and years and years.
  • There are definitely renovations in the works. I am privy to a lot of Snooky's gossip (even though I really don't want to be) and there is a partnership and chef shuffle going on. They should be re-opening in a few months.... but with a different name.
  • It will not be Snooky's! It well never be Snooky's again!
  • Subject: they shouldn't try to replicate everything else.

I really like it that they reach the old-time Park Slope crowd. Do we really need one more chi chi restaurant? Not really. I can just envision what it will look like.

some places should not change too much.

I see Katina's is making changes and that place actually I think *could* use some change. :)
