A Park Slope reflexology warning..... — Brooklynian

A Park Slope reflexology warning.....

Recently I went to see a local Reflexologist after seeing his ad in one of the local magazines. He works out of his home. When I arrived at his home, I was rather put off by the space: it was EXTREMELY messy and dusty and he had to actually pick up bits of trash and move junk, so that I could actually sit down. He seemed spaced out and stunningly disorganized to the point that I wanted to just leave immediately but I felt too embarrassed to just get up and run away. So I stayed and hoped for the best. When he got me on my table and started working on my feet, he first started talking about the "detox" reactions I might have following the Reflexology session. He told me to expect "an increased vaginal discharge," then he said, "but I don't know what your current vaginal discharge is like, so I can't tell you how much of a discharge to expect after this." He seemed to use the word "vaginal" an awful lot. Then it got worse. He started talking about his love life (I wasn't encouraging him in conversation and actually wished he'd shut the fuck up). It got around to his kid. He then said that as humans, the reason we are here is to procreate. From this, he said that therefore all of our motivations are really about sex. Then he said that in this light, it should not be considered a problem if a male Refloxology practitioner gets an erection while working on an attractive female client. He then said, "wouldn't you agree?" At that point I was really scared that he was going to rape me. As it happens, he did not assault me - at least not physically. But it was a really frightening experience. I felt violated. I haven't even written here half of the offensive things that he said to me. I am not going to write the practitioner's name here, but I'd like to warn you to please be extra careful when selecting a Reflexologist, Acupuncturist or any other practitioner who works out of his home. If your intuition is telling you to just get up and run, then get up and run away, fast!

  • Subject: ugh!

that sounds horrible! In a way it might be good to state the name because he should be reported somehow on this behavior but I don't know how reflexologists are regulated. it sounds like you were too stunned to call him on it - i know how that is.
  • This is how women become victims of crime - they're afraid of seeming "impolite." Please post his name and the publication you found him in. Did you contact the publication to tell them about your experience, so they won't run his ad again?

    good ideas! and good points.
