does anyone know what is going on with this condo? they have been moving at a snail's pace plus is right across from my coop so i get all the lovely metallic noises beginning at 7:30am.

the site is between washington and underhill on the south side of the street closer to underhill.

cheers.

  • rumor has it that it will be about +/- 5 stories but not as tall as #93 next door. Not sure how many units or when they're to be completed though...

oh yes, the metallic noises are such a blessing at 7:30 am...and I especially love the perpetual warning beep of the machines as if they were in reverse 24/7.
  • oh and the best part is that they start at 7:30a then stop at like 8a... then it's quiet for most of the day until they block the traffic and all the cars start honking. some even resort to driving on the sidewalk to get by.
  • Are you talking about the pit with the construction crew of 4 Russians and an excavator? Unless the two guys working on Underhill playground pitch in when they're finished with the jungle gym, that building is going to take a while...
  • Don't know if they're Russian or not but it does seem like very few workers for the site. Won't their permit(s) run out after a certain amount of time?! I hate the building already...
  • The building on the Prospect side of that block is going up nicely, though... it's a lot smaller, but.. ya know...
  • Looked it up on some NYC databases. This will be a 4-story, 8-units condo. The developer is a shell company run by Joseph and Izona Hertz, and the architect is Park Slope-based Gary Mangus Architect. A complaint was filed against the job last August concerning after-hours work.
  • Lately they've been welding after dark... that can't be too safe.

Only 8 units? Seems like they would be large units...
  • There have been nights that I've come home after 6:00pm and seen/heard them welding and such. Quite annoying, but still not as annoying as the jackhammering at 7:30 am.

Does anyone have any info on the Gary Mangus Architect fellow?
