coffee spot to interview a high school student?

Hi all,

I don't live in Fort Greene, but I need to interview a student who attends Brooklyn Technical High School as part of his college application. As an alumni, I've done a bunch of interviews over the years, usually at quiet coffee shops in the late afternoon. Any ideas of a good place in Fort Greene?

Thanks for any ideas you can offer!

  • Tillie's on Dekalb and Vanderbilt is a good choice, as is Smooch on Carlton at Dekalb. Smooch is slightly closer to Brooklyn Tech, but the difference is negligible.
  • Thanks - Tillie's it is!
  • Don't know if its too late, but The Green Apple on Dekalb off St. Felix (a block and a half from the school) is also an good choice.
  • If you're going to Tillie's, just call and make sure they don't have some performance planned. I interviewed a student last year at Tillie's, and it got cut short by people prepping for a concert.
