Need to buy a gift

There are a few children's shops on 5th Ave in the North End of the Slope.
Check out: http://smalltownbrooklyn.com/parkslopeN/northsouth/5thave/5thave1.html#dean1 for a better idea of where you can find them.
If you're up for a stroll--and Saturday's weather should be reasonably nice--start at Lulu's and Area, which are right across the street from each other and make your way down 5th Ave and see what else you find. Good luck. -
Try Toyspace on 7th Ave near 15th Street. It's small, but they have a nice selection of toys and they also gift wrap.
426 7th Avenue Brooklyn NY 11215 718 369-9096 -
Little Things on 7th Avenue between Carroll & Garfield. On the odd numbered side.

Are you shopping to find a gift the kid will love or to impress the parent? As a kid, I always preferred the mass market plastic crap advertised between Saturday morning cartoons and was always bummed by politically correct artisans' toys. Get the kid what she REALLY wants...get her some Bratz! You can start her off with Bratz Babyz Mermaidz Yasmin for ages 4-6 and then introduce her to Bratz Hair Magic Yasmin for ages 6-8. Trust me, your neice will love YOU the most.

If you're still determined to buy something classy, there's a place on 7th Avenue near Uninon Street with colorful crocheted animals in the window. -
You're always so fun and silly raw - but totally right. I gave up pleasing the parents with the kinds of gifts I used to buy. Kids want what all their friends want. My niece loves those American Girl dolls at American Girl Place. They're hugely popular - especially the twins version. You can choose eye color, skin color, hair color, hair texture, wardrobe, etc. Your doll can even have her hair done at the doll salon. When I was in there, there was a line for this as well as a line to meet with a personal shopper for your doll's wardrobe. I wanted to go home that night and TIE MY TUBES.
I know you wanted something in Parkslope and American Girl Place isn't (it's on 5th Ave. next to Saks) but I do know that young girls love to go in there for the experience of choosing the doll.raw wrote: Are you shopping to find a gift the kid will love or to impress the parent? It's the detail version of the larger Sea Serpents by Klimt.
