Not the same quality of course, but enough to skim off some business I am sure. I think a store like D. is also hurt by places like Fairway - inconvenient but some people will make the trip there and again business is lost.
Agreed on all counts.
I agree with some of the posters that you have to be very flexible in responding to the demand of your potential customers. I think good prepared food would go over very well on Vanderbilt, there are so many people who work and not many places to purchase it.
In any case, I hope they are still in business and that we see the store open again. They are a welcome addition to Vanderbilt avenue -

Maybe. However, places like Blue Apron on Union Street and International Taste on 7th Ave. have a huge meat and cheese selection at high prices and they seem to do a very brisk business. -
Re: Delicacies Stock
Add Center Aisle with dry goods: Crackers, candy, cookies, cereals, more coffees, fancy chips, pasta, etc; and...alcohol.
How $$ is a license to sell wine, beer? Or Do they already sell it, cant recall?
Store traffic would increase... -
You've got to have a lot more and different items to keep people interesting.
I think I'm more interesting using what D already sells to make fantastic lunches and dinners! Sure more would be better, but its not gonna happen unless people can be interesting with what they currently offer - which is not insubstantial. -
isn't it funny that the Mayday Hardware guy doesn't seem to have anything we want or ask for & his brother down the street at Love Liquors rebuffs suggestions (diplomatically expressed) that he broaden his inventory past mid-level mass-marketed wines.
