    Seems that very regularly, the mods (like yourself) remove posts that are off topic and create a new thread so that the discussion can continue.

    only when the thread has degenerated to such a degree that topic is vague. that said, I'm shifting this absurdity to Board Administration.

    if the off-topitude becomes involved enough, or appears to have a life of it's own, or is something that just deserves the attention of people looking for x that wouldn't be looking for it on topic y,
    we split it off to a new thread.

    We don't *delete* off topic posts unless there is something else very wrong with them.
