ABOUT REAL ESTATE; A FLORIST STARTS A BROOKLYN RENOVATION
By LISA W. FODERARO
For the last 25 years Martin J. Orlofsky has sold chrysanthemums and gladiolus in his flower shop in downtown Brooklyn, at the corner of Fourth and Flatbush Avenues, while the area around him has ridden an economic roller coaster.
When he founded the family business in 1949 - his shop at that time was a block away - the downtown area was a ''triple A'' retail center, ''the Times Square of Brooklyn,'' Mr. Orlofsky said. Later, he remembers, John V. Lindsay, while running for Mayor, used photographs of the same section to depict the dangers of urban decay.
Now downtown Brooklyn is bouncing back, with the help of the impending mixed-use Atlantic Terminal redevelopment project as well as other commercial and residential buildings planned or under construction. And Mr. Orlofsky has become part of that revival as the converter of the vacant 10-building complex -in which his store, Midtown Florist, is situated - into 39 rental apartments. -
I can definitely say that Zuzu Petals really give you a beautiful, unique arrangement. Unfortunately the Orlofsky's have sold Midtown, but they still offer nice arrangements. But for something really special go with Zuzu's

It looks like Hibiscus on Vanderbilt does flower arrangements and they deliver. I've never used them, though.

Barbara's Flower Shop

Local business (Crown Heights), been around for a long time. The owner, Mr. Powell, is great.
Delivery is no problem. -
Park Florist on 158 7th Avenue is hands down the best. The owner, Simon and his daughter are pros. They have beautiful fresh cut flowers as well as lush plants and make exquisite arrangements and deliver in Brooklyn. ZuZu's is also great. Fonda knows her stuff, definitely.
