Where are the best cupcakes hiding?

I need few very good cupcakes for tonight. Nothing too fancy, just real cupcakes in the neighborhood.

Thanks
Kris

  • Two Little Red Hens is good, albeit a bit pricey.
  • from the looks of things, I'm smuggling a few in my belly right now ;-)

(ok, that wasn't helpful, but I couldn't resist!)
  • Someone on the street directed me to the Red Hens place, too. Just what i wanted, very home-made feel cupcakes. Haven't tasted yet though...

    Thanks
  • What about Joyce?
  • cakeman raven's cupcakes are awesome, too, but he's not in the slope (just something to remember for the future). glad you found what you needed, kris!
  • I haven't had one in a while, but the cupcakes at Blue Apron are really good.
  • I was disappointed in Joyce's cupcakes actually. the magnolia bakery disease - pretty to look at, not much for flavor....
  • This place on Atlantic makes big good muffins. They're not amazing but what they lack in amazingness they make up for in largeness.

  • Sweet Melissas! Yeah, they're pricey--but so is every fancy cupcake. Reminds me, today I walked past a place on 23rd in nyc called "Cupcakes and Burgers." ?!!@ I kid you not.
  • I think Blue Apron gets their cupcakes from Baked.

    Regardless, they are yummy.
  • It was great to see all those recommendations, thank you so much.
We ate all the cupcakes i bought from Three Little Hens and the Red Velvet ones were really good. Chocolate was just OK.

One thing about bakeries I don't understand, if you ask them which are the freshest cupcakes they say all of them are fresh, from this morning. yeah right...I could taste they were not. Oh...
  • Actually, I don't like Red Hens' cupcakes - taste more like crisco than butter. Love Blue Apron's and also Tempo Presto on 3rd st. has some good big ones.
  • tempo presto? really? i've never thought to go in there.... hmmmm..... thanks for the suggestion!

(BTW, i agree with you on Red Hens' cupcakes. they have other things on the menu that are fantabulous, but not the cupcakes)
  • I do vegan cupcakes! Deeeelicious!! Not that "dry and weird" taste either. Moist and yummy.
