the urgency lies in showing us. its citizens. the overwhelming response that any attack to it's biggest gang will prompt
it's a planned show of force. meant for anyone who wants an excuse to shoot a cop
the individual street cop's shield of protection is derived from overwhelming responses like this -

you're exactly right, quijibo. -
The news vans are filming live right now on St. Marks.
-
Does anyone know about this supposed drug-den on St. Marks Ave? Some reports describe it that way, but it seems like it was the home of a police officer with a possible drug problem.
When I passed the crime scene, the police were dregding out the sewage drain to look for used rounds and other evidence. -
Subject: The "known" crack house?
Apparently my roomates and I are cross the street neighbors of the "known crack house" on St. Marks that was reported in the news. That was news to us. I guess you can't really believe everything you see on the news. Actually, the building next door is the big trouble maker on the block. We do have a "crack granny" on our block who looks so sweet down and out so everyone gives her money when she hangs out at the Pacific station begging. Then she sits on someones stoop and smokes it all away. Very sad. -

And so is the city. You left out the rest of what he said.
Anyhow, looks like it will be an innarestin' story to watch develop. -

this crack granny. is she an older, slight hispanic/puerto-rican woman with a pronounced hump? -
Just saw the perp walk on NY1. So yeah, I guess they went ahead and did it.

I can only interpret your use of the word "gang" as to be a decidedly negative indictment of the entire police as a department and and their role as public servents - which is fine if that is your view - but please, please - if you are ever the victim of a crime, in a car accident or in any other emergency situation - do not call 911 - otherwise you will reveal yourself to be a total hypocrite. -

if you're referring to my post. please read my entire post.
not just what was quoted by witch king
the word "gang" can have either negative or positive attributes
from miriam webster: 1): "a group of persons working together" -

I stayed at my bf's that night but this all took place literally right around the corner from my house. Scary.
I've read some reports that said they were on Fourth Av and some that said Sixth Av. Anyone know which Avenue it took place on?
edit: nevermind--just saw that the car was ditched at Fourth, the shooting happnened across the street. Fan-freaking-tastic. -

urgency: make the news by being at the hospital and giving a press conference.
I figure what the city saves on his salary and housing is probably spent on his transport, but it's no biggie. I'm sure if someone called him on it (and this may actually be the case) he'd just pay for the damned helicopter and pilot. -

"She also said she did not know that Mr. Rivera owned a gun"
right. -
just reading about this on the board. i live on the st marks block in question and am glad that the rumors are wrong - that 33 is a crack house. i keep looking at that building and am like "how? it's fairly well kept"
andyway,, it definitely happened on 6th ave and prospect - my neighbor called the day of the event and confirmed that (i was luckily out of town)
with this all in mind, anyone have the name of a good broker? i was toying with the idea of moving anyway but htis and a rumor about my building being sold has jus tpushed me over the edge. -
marden....i get the part about your building being sold...a legitimate reason for wanting to move, but please don't say that this incident was now the final straw for you moving??!!! you sound like the rushkoff's. i hope if you are looking to move to an area with zero crime, you will be looking outside the city, because if you think there is a neighborhood in new york that doesn't experience a horrible crime every now and then you are certainly incorrect.
