Cherry Tree bar - Yes/No/Maybe?

So I got invited to a charity thing at Cherry Tree. I've never ventured to the 4th avenue row. Wondering how the bar crowd is and more importantly, how much are the drinks (beer and well)? They don't have a website.. is their patio open in winter (heated?)

Quick responses very welcomed.

  • Go for it, I like the place. Drinks are happy hour prices till 8pm. Decent prices $3-6 beers. $4+ well drinks etc. Other stuff can cost you more but nothing exceptional.
The bartenders are funny and friendly and the pizza is to die for.

The patio is nice, but I'm not sure if it's heated, I'd assume so.
  • Thanks mamacita,

Well I didn't quite make it last night but there's always next time. In this artic weather, 4th avenue is a hike =)

I wish there was a place nearby with pool and stuff to do..there probably is and I'm missing it? Brownstone Billiards has the amenities but I walked in once and didnt stay for more than 5 seconds. Totally not my scene. I like martinis and margaritas, not brownbagging.

When they finish your reservations, it will probably be more like what you want. They're putting in a new bar and kitchen.
  • Carnivore, I hope that too. The last time my bf and I stopped by, it wad dingy and the crowd was the farthest thing from what we like. I like a very mellow polite crowd. Added to the fact that less than a week ago, some guy comes out of BB and starts hollering at me. There is nothing more disgusting than a ugly rude man yelling at you, attempting to get your attention. Flirting? I think not. Yuck!

It's too bad you got a bad first impression of the place, because the crowd at BB is a real cross-section of the neighborhood, and in general people are pretty friendly there.
  • Cherry Tree is good. It has a very diverse scene. I've noticed a crowd of eastern europeans who were hard not to stereotype as Russian mafia. I've also noticed some liberal middle-eastern guys hanging onto each other. And the last time I was there we were treated with a dance on the bar by a pro and her girlfriend. Oh, and there was a huge bouncer from Egypt who asked me if I was going to "hang out" after they closed... It's the kind of place where I think anyone can feel like they fit in.
  • And did I mention they have beer olympics and a beer bong? How could you not like a place were gay Pakistani men hang out with lesbians drinking beer from a beer bong?
