  • Is baking considered a sport?

When do we get to the bake-off? The Decathalon? The Dodecacathalon?
  • Subject: No way!

Whoa, I am NOT going to accept a baking challenge from someone who goes by "Cupcake."

Nah- I think that Martha would have the inside line on her...

I'd be more than happy to judge!
  • I'd love a bake off.
People who have eaten my mocha chip muffins still talk about them years later.

Cupcake you are a neighbor after my own heart - I am in on that bake off!! I make a mean mango cream pies and amaretto cheesecake.

And hell yeah its a sport!!!

i think we need a panel of judges. i'm a willing volunteer as well.
  • If we can coordinate a drink mix-off, I'd love to participate and judge... :D
  • so official welcome to the hood nybt. when did you officially land and how are you liking it so far?
  • Baking is a sport as long as it is full contact baking. And Martha wouldn't stand a chance against me. I throw mad elbows.

Perhaps a bake-off could be organized for the fall, when things start to get chill and it is more pleasant to be around an oven again?
  • Good point. I was recently reminiscing about my decision last summer to bake some buns with an orange-y filling. Seemed like a good idea, but the filling melted before I put it in the oven...on the table, on me, everywhere. It was a tasty problem to have but I learned my lesson. I think this should be an October activity maybe.

Air hockey, of course, can be played at any time.
  • I'll enter a 'bake off' with anyone, anytime, anywhere.

Oh wait. You were talking about thekind involving flour, eggs, and an oven.

    Nevermind.

I'd enter that version of a bake off. Especially if we then had to come up with the ultimate method to distill cheap liquor!
  • Super Silver Haze-off?

    j/k

    I know I can't hang...
  • I think we should have pensodyssey's kind of bake-off and then proceed to being judges of Cupcake's bake off, plan?

That sounds...like the most awesome plan ever! Everything chocolate gets a 0 from me.

That kind of out-of-the-box thinking can get you far in life, young lady!!! Chances are you won't want to go much further than the couch, but...
  • Where do I sign up?

Fair warning: I might in fact eat ALL the entries, in that case. And give them all a 10.

That is the greatest idea I have ever heard since I can't remember when... possibly the last bake-off, though. Did I mention I can't remember? I think it might have been the last bake-off.

Whoah. People are going to bake goodies? That's a great idea! Let's have another kind of bake-off and then go to the real one and judge! That's the best idea I've had since... the last bake-off!

    9. Insufficient quantity.

Great minds think alike perhaps... sounds like a good time that needs to be followed by some sort of exercising activity the next day.

Late brunch with mimosas and bloody marys? Does that count?

    Hahah right, right. :D
  • Maybe we can combine the two bake-offs if the first category is brownies.
  • I bowl competivity! 215 avg here, bring it.
  • when we doing this?
    Someone choose!
    How about Sunday?
  • Carnivore wrote: Maybe we can combine the two bake-offs if the first category is brownies.
Agreed. And the second can be, "space cake".

As for an exercising activity the next day, I choose "making coffee" as my event.
  • Count me in on a bake-off, I make a mean eclair!!
