Proposing New Neighborhood: Sterling Heights! — Brooklynian

Proposing New Neighborhood: Sterling Heights!

I am proposing that Sterling Place become its own neighborhood, similar to "North Flatbush" and other neighborhoods named for a street. Call it a neighborhood within a neighborhood, if you will. But as Gus (resident of Sterling Place and owner of Tom's Restaurant) likes to say, "Sterling Place is a sterling street." Liberate Sterling Place! Viva Sterling Heights!

Who's with me?

  • Sterling Heights is already claimed by an awful bit of painful whiteness outside of Detroit.
Sorry, dude, I just thought you should know.
  • I made my apartment a separate neighborhood years ago. Vanderbergen RULZ.
  • Rippleview is my personal favorite.

    I'm sure it is.

I thought about Apacadacofrobee ("apartment caddy-corner from beast") but decided that, on a t-shirt, people would just think it said "Abercrombie".
  • So where would Bloho be situated?
  • "Block by Home heating oil"? Oh wait, I guess that would be "blohomo".
  • Fat MethHo = Fifth Avenue Towards Methodist Hospital

FALAFL = Funny Area Leading At Flatbush Extension Landing

Totally inappropriate, given the recent death of Anna Nicole Smith. Have you no decency left, sir? Have you no sense of decency?

Huh? Please explain my error. I will Google it now...
  • Oh dear God...

Official Website of Sterling Heights, Michigan:

Headline acts for Sterlingfest announced -- Country rockers Restless Heart and Dennis DeYoung, former singer and songwriter for the rock group Styx, are among the musical acts scheduled to perform during the 2007 Sterlingfest Art & Jazz Fair in Dodge Park and the City Center.

(But then again, Styx WAS pretty awesome...)

I retract my proposal. I shall hereby resume citizenship in the republic of Prospect Heights. Please accept my apologies and accept my apologies.

    Ahhhhhhhhhhh...yer drunk, man! :-)
  • As a resident of Prospect Pl., I can only support this proposed rebranding of the neighborhood after the name of the street.

    Dennis DeYoung...

Wow, you said it man, regardless of Styx having one or two awesome songs. I fully believe that Dennis De Young was the worst thing about them, and their songs clearly have not withstood the "test of time(s)."

By the way, I thought he had a condition where he couldn't bear exposure to the light of day lest he swoon or catch the vapors or something. I gather that's cleared up?

Maybe, but the entire band was lame.
