+ My sweet little friend Mia needs a new home

I am moving overseas and cannot take her with me. She is a calico, neutered and a little past her sixth year though she has only been with me for the past year and a half.

She came to me a little unsocialized - she is still a pretty independent cat and her behavior has definitely changed since she's been here. I've given her a lot of space to roam and attention. She likes to follow me around the house but maintains her distance: she'll sit on the chair next to mine when I eat at the table, curls between my arms when I work on the computer - basically follows me around the apartment wherever I go. She does special things, like sit on top of the toilet waiting for me to be done with the shower so she can lean onto the edge and give me a kiss or hang out by the tub ledge and lick water off my shoulder when I take a bath. She'll sleep every night with me and this is the best time to pet her, as she purrs and looks for contact.

It seems that I have a lot to say about her: check out the full description and pictures at http://lotsaloot.googlepages.com/mia

I am very happy to have had the pleasure to know her for this time and sad that we will part ways. If you are interested in adopting her - or know someone who does - contact me and we can arrange a meeting.

Thank you!

  • Oh, Meirav, she's beautiful! Hope a good home is found for her soon.
  • Thanks! Some people came over today to meet her and I was quite surprised at how calm she was with them. It's really amazing how a cat's behaviour can change.

Let's see what happens.... my only concern is she has gotten used to all the space and sun in my apt to roam around...
  • mia is one hella handsome kitty

how did the sunday people go?
  • i still have not heard on their decision. i am preparing a flyer in case it does not come through.
    thanks for your interest!

she does photograph well, doesn't she? i'll miss her...
  • Hello Hello! the search is on again... the couple decided not to take any pets at this time.

should i start a new topic or continue the thread on this one? as you can see, i am a 'newbie' here...

    thanks!

  • Just continue this one -- it's already set to stay at the top of the forum, and no need to start a separate one.

I'm sorry the new home fell through. Anyone looking for a kitty should go to the link posted earlier in the thread and marvel at her cuteness!
  • thank you!
  • More cute photos of Mia! Spread the word, Mia needs a new home!

  • two people contacted me with whom it did not work out [allergies/ a household with a dog, birds and two toddlers!] and i am waiting to hear back from other three. i also found another source to post her - there she is, i can hear her meow from the kitchen because she spotted birds.
i leave on wednesday and my friend is going to look after her until we find her a new home. cross your fingers...

    thank you!
  • HELLO! i want to send a word of gratitude thanking you all for the support and very useful advice. it is really amazing to find a community with individuals willing to help out one another.
I"ve had a few individuals contact me with interest in Mia but for some reason or another it does not work out. I know that the right match will happen... just might take sometime.
i;ll keep you posted from overseas

    THANK YOU
  • Hello Hello - it is I, Meirav, reporting live from across the Atlantic. Mia, it seems, somehow got hold of a whole bag of catnip and scared the beejeezus out of her temporary care taker. Tension arises... Really need to find a fit new home for her very soon. Does anyone have ideas as to what else I can do/where to post/etc? Or finding a foster home?

    Many thank yous -
