I've lived here for 7 years. It's a very quiet area, and very culturally/racially diverse. The shopping is pretty average, lots of 99¢ type places, some decent markets, etc. The closest almost-trendy spot is Cortelyou Road in Ditmas Park, which is pretty close. I really like this neighborhood, and the prices for apts. are still relatively reasonable. Welcome!

I lived in Kensington for about 6 years from 81-87. You will be near Prospect Park where you can have picnics and enjoy good scenery. There's also a nearby horse stable where you can rent a horse for a ride and have good fun.
Enjoy your stay. -
I"ve lived on Ocean Parkway for 20 years and its a pretty decent area, its very diverse if not a little eastern eurpean top heavy, the rents are still affordable and the city is not that far away,,,seems that the yuppies from park slope can finally moving this way
