Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip — Brooklynian

Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip

Anyone else a fan of this show? I've enjoyed a good chunk of Aaron Sorkin's work in the past--A Few Good Men, The American President, Sports Night and of course The West Wing--and got on board with Studio 60 from the get-go. It was put on hiatus by NBC this past week and might return later on in the season. Any thoughts?

  • Personally, I like the show but I could see how it would grate on others. Sorkin gets pretty self-righteous which is okay when your character is supposed to be the chief of staff to the president harping on global warming. Its a lot harder to stomach when its the head of a network talking about reality tv.

I'm sorry to see it go and hope they bring it back later in the year (because the Black Donnelly's doesn't interest me at all), but I wouldn't be surprised to not see it again.
  • I absolutely loved the West Wing when Sheen was on it. I left the country for a year and never really returned to it.

I also liked the first two episodes of Studio 60, but again I suck with keeping a TV watching schedule with the exception of HBO/Showtime on Sunday nights. I'm bummed it's gone though, as I'd like to check it out some more.
  • I like the show.
I went looking for information about the hiatis and found this http://www.savestudio60.com/ .
  • Thanks for the link, Violet. I signed the petition, fwiw.

I did too (sign the petition). I worked really hard (writing letters, going to a sad little protest even) to save another show that was being cancelled a few years ago, and it didn't work (even though we'd raised literally millions of dollars to try to help someone else produce the thing). And I'm generally a pessimist anyway sooo... So I'm not hopeful.
Here http://www.cnn.com/2007/SHOWBIZ/TV/02/28/apontv.salvagejob.ap/index.html is an article that talks about it. Sniffle.
  • I loved the few eps I saw, but as I don't have cable, I had to have a friend tape them for me, and eventually it just became too much. I figured, hey, I'm getting cable once I move to my new place, so I'll catch up with it then.

Figures they'd put it on hiatus just after I moved. :(

    But it was/is on NBC...
  • I know, but my reception at the old apt. was awful. ABC was the only channel that came in clearly enough to actually watch, and the picture was still bad. NBC was just fuzz.
