cheesy liquor stores/wine shops in the slope
Anyone know any good cheesy liquor/wine shops in the slope that have separate displays for each brand of wine, and signs everywhere advertising the different brands of liquor? You know, the cheap ones where all the brands of wine are screaming at you to buy theirs with their separate signs/ads etc.
I'm looking for this because I'm designing a display for a special brand of wine and i need to do research on whats already out there.
Tastefully designed wine shops that have nice wooden racks without any marketing/point-of-purchase shelf racks or ads are NOT what im looking for.
Suggestions appreciated, thanks!

The one of 5th Ave. btw. 14th/15th. I think it's called "Bay River" or something, but just look for the big "LIQUOR" sign.
I think this is what you want. Every shelf has stickers on it with the wine's rating, what type of food it goes with, etc. etc. either from Wine Enthusiast or marketing from the winery.
If you need somebody to just drink 'em all, I'll volunteer :-) -
Thanks Flexi, I actually checked out that one today - its definitely got the cheese factor i need. The salespeople were wondering why i was taking pics of everything, but they didnt stop me like the one in the city i was in yesterday.
Any more cheesy liquor store recommendations appreciated! -
I think the one by Pathmark on 2nd/3rd Ave has the same kind of feel to it.

The booze store on Park Place between 7th Ave and Flatbush. Next to the two Chinese fast food places. There's also the liquor store on Flatbush between Plaza and Sterling. I think the address is 395, right next to the New Prospect Cafe.

The cheesiest one I know of is on 5th ave between 7th and 9th st. They still have the glass cage up in the store, so you can't actually touch the wine until you purchase it. There is another one on 4th ave and 10th st, but I think I saw them renovating recently so I don't know if it will be cheesier, or if they are losing the cheese.

I love those guys! They actually sell some nice wine in the budget category, and they're relaxed/friendly.
It has the look you're going for...
Sterling, across from the big Key Food on Fifth Ave, has the wine display ads too. -

Flexi, you are all class. You, me, and three bottles of Mad Dog 20/20 and I think we have a new hit show.

This is no doubt the most disgusting place in the neighborhood to buy booze. They don't even take credit cards..it is like a time warp back to prohibition in some ways because it makes me feel like I am doing some illegal/nasty thing by even walking in to the place. To add insult to injury their prices are higher than almost every other store in the neighborhood.
Avoid at any cost!!
Perhaps if we get a movement going this store will go out of business and we can get another restaurant or bar on 5th ave!! Just what we need!!
(that was a joke) -

I avoided that place for a long time because I thought just walking in there would make me feel like a decrepit old wino but it's just around the corner from C-Town so one day I steeled myself. I've been there several times now and I almost kinda enjoy the disgusto cheez aspect (like the little signs saying things like, "WE DON'T CHARGE TAX, WE JUST COLLECT IT") ... in an ironic aging hipster way, of course.
Yeah, my usual bottle of Pinot Grigio is a dollar more but I'm lazy enough to pay it rather than walk farther if I'm passing by anyway.
