  • In honor of the CH tour I'll give you an old West Indian cold remedy. Boil a pot of water, add fresh chopped ginger and lime. Let it brew for 3-5 minutes, strain and drink the resulting tea adding honey or sugar to taste. Its guaranteed to open your nasal passages right up and burn through whatever is congealing in your chest cavity. Then once you're up and moving a shot of rum should finish you off.
  • But if you REALLY want to feel better, try my patented (not really) cold-be-gone remedy:

At bedtime, dress in layers, and socks, and wool hats, and then drink a dose of Nyquil and hit the sack. You will sweat like a hog overnight, but resist the urge to escape the heat. When you wake up, the harshest cold symptoms will be gone, and most of the congestion will be on its way out too.

This works best when you first feel a cold coming on. It has beaten the flu several times too!:wink:
  • you guyts promise to be nice to us newbies?

    Of course!
  • I've missed the past few encounters at Ripple...I'm gonna try like heck to put in an appearance tonight...
  • I'm in heated negotiations with the BF right now, trying to convince him.

Anyone have some compelling reasons, other than there will be booze and cool people, that I've forgotten to mention to him??

    Help me out here
  • Did you mention booze?
  • How about Soda's sweet burgers?
  • Ditch the bf. Call him from one of the spots after you've caught a nice buzz. Tempt him as only a woman can...
    He'll come runnin'.
Done it a million times-works like a charm!
  • Mrs. C and I will catch up with everyone at Sepia.
  • Well, when I first got home after work I was so whupped I wasn't going to venture out, but after having some dinner I'm starting to rally. I'm going to try to meet up with the horde at Ripple. Any other latecomers wanna change their minds and come with?
  • we'll be there by and by.
  • It would appear that they're running late already since I've been waiting for a text message to let me know it's time to come meet up at Ripple. That didn't take long!

I'd just go on over, but I hate drinking alone. Sweet Tea, lemme know if you decide to head to Ripple.
  • ok, i'm a big f'n coward
i walked into sepia, but it was very crowded and i don't drink and there didn't seem to be a larger group but instead smaller ones...so anyway i chickened out and left
(the girl in the black turtle neck who walked in and then out was me)
so anyway, great way to make a first impression
the reason i really wanted to go though was because i realized how much of this board structures what i do

the night was not a total loss though
on my way home a gentleman approached me and stated "Baby, if you're ever sick I'll take care of you," so at least i met a new person...
  • Saram, I just PM'd you -- if you're up for trying again, let me know and I'll come meet up with you at Ripple and introduce you to folks when they finally get there!

I'd just head over to Sepia but I don't want to do that if I'm not even going to have time for one cocktail before they move on...

Edited to add: Just got a text from Alafairnadia at 10:13 and they're all at Ripple now. I'm heading out.
  • does anyone know where the crawl is right now? did it move from Ripple? Hubby just got home and we are debating heading out....
  • Just got home and the remainder of the gang is at Secrets now.
  • how large was the group? did everyone know each other or did new faces appear? would you do it again? did everyone have fun? what was the best place you hit?
  • Subject: how did it go?

how did it go? the buildup was magnificent -- can't wait to hear where you ended up going, who came, and how it went.
  • It was a great night. I misseed Soda, but Sepia was fun as Sepia always is. Ripple was also fun (I think we had the largest group assembled for there). Brooklyn Exposure was way better than expected, with a great jazz band, and Secrets was also fun and dance-tastic. Greg even decided to overlook the genetically-modified drinks, and dance like Al Gore had just won the Democratic nomination.

Anyone who missed this- make sure you don't miss the next one. You'll be sorry.

Sweet Tea- we have to work on J's stamina.
  • damn i wanna do this next time.
  • Had a great time.

    Who woulda thought about Secrets?

    Good call.
  • We got above 15 people at our first visit to Ripple, including the two guys who joined us at Sepia. Great night. And the funk/jazz band at Exposure rocked. But the ATMs were a little sparse in CH. Quig: I owe you a beer. Carnivore: I owe you a beer. Anyone else I owe a beer?

The last three of us standing got a round of shots on the house at Ripple. That's a great place too. Got back to Lincoln Place at 3:30 to find a crime scene all taped off. Not sure what happened yet.
  • You owe me a beer!

    Okay, not really. :)

In my attempt to catch up I managed to get fairly tanked in the short time I was with y'all. Definitely want to go check out dinner sometime at Exposure, which was a pleasant surprise. They don't have a huge menu, but the food I saw on other tables looked and smelled wonderful. And I like what a big open space it is.

And all my earlier kvetching about one of the owners aside, I do like Ripple a lot. Seems very friendly, the drinks are stiff but not crazy expensive, and I like the decor.
  • Hats off to Alafairnadia for organizing this whole thing.

Also, did anyone else notice the two guys dry-humping on the back table in Ripple? I'm talking one guy laying on the table, legs in the air, while his buddy stands at the edge of the table going through all the motions. Sexy Time!
  • I had been hoping to forget about that...

Now off for greasy dim sum to sop up all that alcohol.
  • Our subgroup had a great time as well, sorry about the wussing out, but after our excursion for sushi, we got sleepy. Seriously, we were in bed at 11:30. It was that kind of week. Thanks alafairnadia, for organizing!

    Good call.
I was so glad to see the place jumping. It's been such a long haul for the two owners, it's very cool to such such a diverse crowd and such great music.

    Rock it Secrets!
  • It was really nice finally meeting you guys!
Our stamina was a bit lacking, we only hung on till about 11:30.. I think??
Lameness. I'll do better next time.
