-
crap did this just happen?
-
which corner was it?>
why are there always people hanging out like its a party outside of the deli?
i always get people coming up to me and speaking very sexually which i find sketchy. -
Apparently the cops had a sewer grate open today looking for something.
-
yikes

Same kind of scene is always going on on Union street btw Franklin/Bedford - closer to Franklin. As soon as the weather gets warm enough to stand around outside, drunk/drugged crowds gather, blast music, there is screaming, fighting, dog fights, sometimes shots get fired. It's every night in warm weather, and goes until 2 or 3 am. I don't understand why the cops don't clean it up. Gotta wait until someone gets killed or injured?

"Police Blotter"
"BROOKLYN
A man was stabbed to death in a melee in Crown Heights [or Prospect Heights], police said yesterday.
The 29-year-old victim, whose name was withheld pending family notification, was found bleeding and unconscious by cops at the corner of Washington Avenue and Lincoln Place just before 10 p.m. on Friday, authorities said.
Cops soon learned there had been a large brawl at that spot and the victim fought with two mystery men, one of whom stabbed him in the chest.
The injured man was rushed to Methodist Hospital, where he died 30 minutes later. " -
There's a little makeshift memorial in front of the bodega with candles inside a cardboard box. The cops have been periodically pulling cars over near the bodega.

I was going to ask the same thing! It looks like dry blood, but I can't be certain. -
Explains the two cops positioned outside the bodega much of the day on Sat.
-
....and that was the night of the bar crawl......right???
-
Nope, bar crawl was Friday the 2nd.
-
the fight was between the drug dealers that hang on that corner. there were about 20ppl watching and no one called the cops. in today's world, I cant believe that no one would call 911 when there is a street fight. the guy died bleeding on the street. it terrifies me that something could happen like this right outside my door.
-
Yeah, citizen Kane said it happened on Friday...night of the bar crawl. I can't believe we went right passed it and never saw anything.....
-
Looks like the Crown Heights portion of the crawl was the safest.

Double-post deleted.

I just called the cops on an escalating verbal argument happening in the street on Union btw Franklin and Bedford. It was just a loud verbal dispute between one guy in an SUV and three others standing at the car window, but I've seen these things devolve into fistfights or shootouts in the past.
Pretty much every night, there's one or more asswipes out on the street screaming at each other "F*^k YOU blah blah blah" and "blah blah blah F*^K blah blah blah"... which sometimes escalates into serious fighting. I do wish the cops would hang around that block more often. It's the site of an ongoing problem. -

Check out Neene's post about increasing beat cops in the neighborhood:

That's great news for the 77th!
I'm pretty sure the area south of Eastern Pkwy where Union is is the 71st precinct though.
Howdy, Stranger!
