Pinball in bars? — Brooklynian

Pinball in bars?

devincf
edited November -1 in Prospect Heights
I remember the glory days when many a bar had pinball. Now I find more and more bars are just removing all the games - like Soda's banishment of the pool table.

Anyone know anyplace locally where you can have a beer and play some pinball?

  • The Horseshoe bar? Dont know the name, its on the adjacent corner to Niagra in the city
  • 7B. Yeah, they have some good pinball. I am hoping for some closer to home here in Brooklyn, though.

Magnetic Field on Atlantic and Henry(?). I think they have a pinball machine but I drank a lot of cider that night, so I'm not 100%. They definitely have a pool table, table top Pac-Man, and the best part, that Buck Hunter game.
  • Only one company in the world still manufactures pinball machines, FYI for no real reason.
  • Buck Hunter is great!
  • I'm going to have to go out on a limb here and say Buck Hunter is f-ing Wack!

I guess you never played Spy Hunter, DK Junior, Rampage, Ikari Warriors..... Buck Hunter is sooo redneck and repeditive, you cant even upgrade the shotgun to machine gun or grenade launcher, and theres no giant derr boss at the end that shoots back or is really hard to kill.

They have buck hunter at Alibi, if you guys are pressed.

I was actually looking at a mod of the original Nintendo Duck Hunter a couple days ago where some seriously genius motherfuckers added the weapons from the original Doom game, so on top of the shotgun, you have a grenade launcher, machine gun, rail gun an the ever-so-fun BFG, which is kind of like a mini nuke. Talk about killing duckies...
  • Does Barcade have pinball?
  • check here for what appears to be an updated list of pinball machines in Brooklyn (and other areas).

  • From that link:
Chuck E. Cheese (Flatbush Ave. and Atlantic Ave. (3rd floor of Atlantic Terminal))
    Games: Simpsons Pinball Party

    Condition: Great
    Price: 25¢
Visited: Jul 28, 2004 by Ben Waters
Comments: If you can stand the throngs of screaming children and the smell of bad pizza, the game's brand new (the place just opened) and plays well. Be careful with the coin insert--I had to really shove the token in to get it to register. Only 25¢!
I wanted to have my last b-day party at Chuck E Cheese, but I hear they have an age/height limit unfortunately.

I just looked at their website at the 'book a party' link. apparently you just need to have 4 kids and 1 adult minimum. so maybe you can get fellow DHers to donate their kids to the cause.

B-but then the kids are going to want some of the magic juice in my flask and I don't think their parents are going to be too happy about that... I'll just round up some short friends next time.
