Drinking...(early)
....As an englishman, I like to drink a little earlier than most folks in this country (preferably after work).......whenever I've dropped by the bars I know in Crown Heights they are usually empty/closed until 9pm or so.
Anyone know of a decent dive bar where I can go and get sloshed in the afternoon/early evening?......the only place I've found is Soda, but thats too far for me to walk........

Bar Sepia on Underhill and Eastern Parkway I think, is open for the Happy Hour crowd.
Cheers, mate! -
I think Ripple (Washington between Sterling Place and Park Place) is open for happy hour too.
I wish more people were up for a cocktail on the way home from work. For the most part, the moment I get home I can't help but put on my jammies, and then it's all over. -
I ususally see people outside of Sepia after work. Ripple, not so much - I noticed they were still closed a little after 5PM yesterday.

Go to Mooney's on Flatbush. They open early and there's sure to be a few imbibers all ready there.
-
yeah, Ripple generally is barely open before 6 p.m.
you might also want to try brooklyn exposure. I think that's more in your general area. it's at bedford and st. marks. it's mostly a restaurant at that point but it has a large bar area. -
mooney's is an excellent choice for midafternoon drinks and you certainly, definately will not be the only one in there. plus free drinks galore at times!
-
Mooney's seems more like a before work kind of place.

Mooneys is almost in park slope!!...i need somewhere i can walk to...no more than 1/2 mile from Nostrand...
-
like I said, brooklyn exposure works. ripple after about six, but they don't have anything on tap.
tavern on dean, also, is open all day and has nice stuff on tap. underhill and dean. -
Have you tried Tavern on Nostrand or Secrets? Both of them serve lunch so they are open earlier in the day. You might be able to get a 5:30 or 6pm drink. Both are on Nostrand.
