Subject: dog waste - st. john's at underhill

Has anyone else had it with the dog crap on the st. john's sidewalk by underhill? It seems that every day there are several dog owners who allow their dogs to make a mess and they never clean it up. It is really out of control. Any suggestions for putting a stop to this?

I'm tired of seeing dog crap smeared up and down st. john's, and it's just a matter of time before I'm the one who stepped in it...

  • A thread was devoted to this topic in the past couple months. I feel ya...and condone picking up the dog-doo-doo and smearing it in the face of the owner if you see doo-dooing occur first hand. Just make sure you have an escape route ready.
  • I see a way to solve this topic/discussion: have the cops/firefighters from the uncivilservants.com thread park their cars over piles of dog crap.

Now, there's a solution with which we can all hopefully live!
  • I started the last thread and continue to be disgusted by the entire situation. Its enough to make me wanna move off of the block...seriously. The entire block has become a haven for those seeking refuge from pooper-scooping. I really wish there was something we could do.
  • Maybe if one (or several) motivated individuals were to clean up the bulk of the block-long mess, the dog owners would feel more conspicuous when letting their dog crap? I'm in no way justifying the actions (or non-action) of the crappers, but I'm sure that it's easier to let crap lay when there's already a bunch of it around... at least that's how it works with dishes in my kitchen sink - if the sink is clean, I'll keep it clean, but once there's a coffee cup sittin' there... eh, what's one more dish?
  • Get up to your roof and take pictures (or get cellphone shots) of the offenders and post them all over the area as well as on the internet.

I am still laughing every time I remember this.

I think the Lincoln/Underhill/St Johns area has become the new "Dog Doo Alley". Every neighbourhood has one. The old Dog Doo Alley used to be the grassy areas by the parking lot that has now become the big swanky development across from the library, On Prospect Park.

Maybe stick some brightly coloured flags into the doo with a profane message for the dog owner/s? As suggested in "Life's Little Annoyances".

omg i love this idea:p. but its kinda nasty trying to put tiny flags on doo doo hehe.
  • Obviously the old "Curb Your Dogs" signs didn't work. Neither did the "Dog Feces is Inhumane" signs...How about we put up some signs that say "WELCOME TO DOGSHIT PLACE" or "SMILE..YOU'RE ABOUT TO STEP IN DOGSHIT," and see what happens...I think we need to shock people into action...Who wants to make the signs???
  • Man, I wish I knew of a really good way to get these people to clean up after their dogs. I clean up after mine, it's not an option. If you want a dog then you pick up their poop, if you want a cat then you clean their litterbox. There is no one street that is the dog shit street near me, they seem to like to spread it out all over.

I'm sure that some of the people who don't clean up after their dogs are the same ones who see nothing wrong with dumping half eaten food & various animal bones on the ground.
