Chinese Chicken Salad? — Brooklynian

Chinese Chicken Salad?

Hey all,

I have been reading thru past posts about local restaurants, but thought I might get what I want faster this way. Basically, I have a fever and the only thing that sounds appetizing is a chinese chicken salad. Anyone know of a place in the hood that takes credit and delivers?

Thanks!

  • I think Mekong in Park Slope may have one, but I don't know about delivery. Hope you feel better!
  • i've never heard of chinese chicken salad. but love the louise brooks. feel better!
  • I hadn't heard of it either. When the OP originally mentioned it, I was thinking of some mayonaise-y thing, maybe with a bunch of sesame oil and scallions thrown in. But Mrs. C thinks she's talking about a lettuce salad topped with boneless chicken, those fried crunchy noodles (think La Choy) and an "Asian" dressing, and maybe some scallions, shredded raw cabbage and or mandarin orange segments. I then guessed that maybe some other veg like bamboo, water chestnuts and baby corn might be included, but Mrs. C thinks not.
EmmaViz, I hope you're feeling better, and I hope you check this thread again so that you can settle this once and for all. What is in a Chinese chicken salad?
  • Thanks for the well wishing guys! While I didn't manage to find any chinese chicken salad last night (I'll check out Mekong next time the craving hits again and will report back!), I am feeling much better now. Amazing what rest, South Park, and hydration will do.

As for the "What is chinese chicken salad" question, Carnivore is right: it's "a lettuce salad topped with boneless chicken, those fried crunchy noodles (think La Choy) and an "Asian" dressing, and maybe some scallions, shredded raw cabbage and or mandarin orange segments." California Pizza Kitchen makes one that is amazing, but, alas, they do not deliver to brooklyn from the upper east side.
  • I know it's out of the way, but Daisy's on 8th avenue and 9th st. has a salad called the China Girl that is exactly what you are looking for.
