parking
The other link was getting too long. If your friend has a problem with the parking at the fire house on St. Johns place, why doesn't he/she just knock on their door. What ever happened to to dealing with a situation like an adult. calling 311 is crap. With all of the problems in our wonderful city you are gonna waste someone that has to deal with real complaints with this garbage. I live near this firehouse. They have alway very respactful and are probably willing to listen. I've noticed accress the street that they have parking accress the street, but they are not the only ones using them. Many of the cars DO NOT have parking permits in the window. Has your complained about this. Probably not, this would not effect them directly. Sorry if I'm rambeling on, but seems to me that there is alot more important things going on around us of more value then to complain about where a firefighter parks his car.

He has complained to the crap 311 forever, he has written nice notes and put them on the windshields of these vehicles. He has acted like an adult, but they don't care. I have done the same thing in my hood with the firehouse that abuses their permits, nothing happens. And really, and you don't want to knock on their door because, when all else fails, one may have to resort to petty vandalism (such as eggs, jelly, soda being thrown at these cars), because really, nothing else does work. So why don't you go complain? Oh, that's right you probably are one of these "heroes".
And please tell me of the more important things going on around us then not being able to walk down your own sidewalk and inequality of justice? -
hehe the "heros" comment made me smile in rl .

I have no reals to complain. These man and women spend their days and night protecting us. I had a water leak in my apartment and called 311. Guess who showed up. The fire department. They were very respectful and hepled with my problem. Why can't your friend knock on the door? I don't understand your answer, also what would destroying there property do. Remember they are here to help US. Did you ever think that there are not given enough parking spots? Have you ever wonder why they drive to work? Before you take action and destroy there property why dont you et your facts strait. I hope that if you do mess with there car and get caught and they follow the letter of the law.

I don't give a shit why they drive to work. They work for teh city so they should complain to the city about their lack of parking spots instead of parking on the sidewalk. And after viewing www.uncivilservants.org it makes me want to do two things:
1. make my own fake permit to stick in my windshield so I can park where I want when I need to (after all, I am only asking for equality of the laws)
2. break the windshields (or slash the tires) of every permit abuser out there.
So watch out! -
Wow you're very violent. Pretty funny how you are gonna break the law in order to stop people from breaking the law. I guess civility if really gone. I for one am going to warn my neighbors about you. I wont tell them to move their cars, just to keep a eye out for you. Hope they catch you. Good luck. you'll need it if the do.

Really? The funny thing is the ones who are suppposed to uphold the law are the one's breaking it. So what comes around goes around. Deal with it. And move your fuggin' SUV off the sidewalk while your at it! -

Gee, I would have called a plumber. Seems like a waste of time for the FDNY.
It's like getting Superman to rescue a cat out of tree while an evil giant robot is destroying buildings across town. -

they should really start charging people for wasting the cities time with things like that. -
Why call a plumber when you can depend on the city for everything and not have to pay for it?
I can't eat diner without arguing with my kids...let me call 911
I don't want to wait for or pay for a plumber...let me call 911
The manager of the wireless store won't give me a refund...let me call 911
My 10 year old routinely comes home at midnight but now it's 12:30 so instead of calling his cell, his friends, going down the block to find him...let me call 911
I have a really bad headache so let me go to the hospital...by ambulance...911
I locked myself out of the house...let me call 911
The list goes on, and on, and on. -
Someone's not agreeing with my pro-city-employee-breaking-laws-by-parking-on-the-sidewalk argument...let me call 311/911! :-)

I did not call the fire department. I called 311 who must have contacted 911 who then sent the fire dept. Get your facts strait. I also asked them why they had come for a water leak. Thiey told me that they go to all emergencies not just fires. Maybe when they came I should have told them to move there truck.
