Floor lamps

Mom and I had our apartment renovated -- it's just about finished. I had my room painted a particular shade of mailbox blue that reads as kinda dark, but is easily fixable by putting in a floor lamp or two. Thing is, we don't have any (we used desk lamps and the ones on the ceilings). Anyone know where I can get a good floor lamp on a receptionist's pay?

    Try Lowe's or Home Depot, they are the cheapest places for a quick fix.

    Other then that, the Lamp Warehouse on Ft. Hamilton has a great selection but more pricey.

    Hmm... I know that there's a Home Depot on 23rd street in Manhattan. But I can't seem to find a Lowe's I can get to on mass transit :? , and Lamp Warehoue looks like it's a hike to the lines near me (2/3 and F, primarily). Of course, I'm not always a good judge of scale :roll:.

    AnnaClaire, you can take the F to Smith/9th. Lowe's is right near here. it's pretty much at 9th street & 2nd ave. alternately, you could take the B75 (i don't know where you live) which will ride past the back entrance.

    I agree with Lowes but if you want to shop around
    Target at Atlantic Mall
    I think Marshalls at Atlantic Mall had them also
    Pinchek on Bergen and Flatbush

    or you can try Craig's list - good luck

    Lowes or Creative Lighting on Baltic & Court (closed Saturdays). Forget Home Depot, they're not that inexpensive and the stuff they sell (if they have it) tends to break. Pintchik is okay.

    I actually have a floor lamp I've been meaning to sell, read: cheap. Let me know if you're interested. I'll try to remember to send a pic this weekend, or email me if you like.
