Stolen Dog: Black lab named Lady Day
Comments
-
I just talked to Shelley, Pattys sister. Lady is still missing. She was taken by an older lady with grey hair and glasses. Please still keep an eye out! This makes me ill.
-
You mean Patty witnessed the abduction? Oh my god, this is so awful!
-
I changed the title of this to say the dog was stolen -- hoping that will make more people look at it.
What a shitty thing to do! Does anyone have any more descriptive details that might help people recognize this woman? Like, was her hair short or long, curly or straight? -
WTF is wrong with people?
Also, who is Patty and where did this happen? -
The dog was tied up outside of Yaba on Flatbush, while Patty was shopping closeby, the woman came into yaba, asked about the dog, was told it belonged to someone, and she took it anyway. We can only hope Lady is being well cared for until she's returned.
Lady is 12 years old, and very, very sweet. -
wow sounds crazy. hope she wasn't sold to labs and stuff.
-
Good News! Lady Day has been returned! The woman who took her, brought her to that horrible, incompetent vet on Union and 6th, who tried to get her sent off to the pound to be put down! Luckily, someone in there had seen one of the posters around the neighborhood, recognized her, and called Patti.
So Lady Day is home! -
good news !
-
That is so bonkers! Why did the woman steal the dog if she wasn't planning to keep it anyway?

probably a mean spirited person who wants to see people emotionally hurt and gets a kick out of it. -
What a bizarro story! Glad the pooch is home safe.
-
Yay!
But PLEASE tell me the police are involved and this weirdo's going to be prosecuted. Nobody should be able to get away with something like this. -
man. i'd love to know the details on this one...
glad Lady Day is home! -
o.m.g. i'm so glad that i found this with a good outcome to the story, Lady Day is home and happy.
That freako should be arrested. -

I'm with you on this - what IS wrong with people? A question I've been asking for many years.

I was so happy to see this story did have a Hollywood ending.
So Lady Day is home!
There are many postings on this forum about vets.. and since I have nothing good to say about this vet on Union and 6th ave.. I won't even mention her name. Look for the Neon lights..Tacky. But I have to tell you that this practice has been going for at least 25 years and her insensitivity for animals and their owners is legendary in PS. -
I have a personal horror story about that vet, so I know firsthand that she's AWFUL. Incompetent is too good a word. How she stays in business is a mystery.
-
You tell your story and I will tell mine. Only half kidding!
I think this woman deserves to be outted as the vet to most avoid in park Slope. -

Well, my vet for worst vet is definitely 5th Ave. Cat Clinic. And I have (unfortunately) the ashes of my dead cat to prove it.
But, I am very glad to hear that Lady Day is back home! -
where is a GOOD vet?
-
If the identity of this animal who stole the dog is known, a police report should defintely be made for petit larceny and cruelty to animals and theres even a charge for Dog Stealing sect 366 of the Agriculture Market Law.
-
This is a really strange story. Glad it worked out ok.

Subject: A Good Vet

I can't vouch for the reasonable cost but the folks at Hope Vet (Atlantic Avenue) are fantastic. We take both our cats there as well as our dog.
I highly recommend them. -
We like these vets...
Park Slope Vets
Edit: ...oh, wtf is wrong with ppl? Glad you dog has been returned! Pet her for me! -
I agree with Mr. Tips, I've said it before and I'll keep saying it. Park Slope Vets is amazing, I've never gotten such good care for all my 4 cats and 2 dogs from anywhere else.
-
I bet Lady Day and her mommy are the happiest two ladies in the nabe this week! Yeaaaaaaaaa! I LOVE a happy pet ending.
-
What a lovely ending to poor Lady Days' ( and her mommys' ) horror story! Does anyone know if psychofreakwoman has been charged by the police? Please say yes. Oh, and I can wholeheartedly reccomend the folks at Park Slope Animal Health Center on Flatbush right by what used to be Big Daddys'. That's the corner.
The vets there recieved their training at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine
at the University of Bologna which has a deservedly sterling reputation and
I've brought all my way too many dogs and cats there since I bought my place in the Heights ten years ago.
Animal Kind in the Slope are lackadaisical but I don't have any actual horror stories about 'em.
A vet I would NEVER bring any animal to and would would beg anyone NOT to is the dude on Prospect Park West, Silverman I believe is his name.
I brought my dog Mina there ten years ago for a ripped nail and he grabbed her and
essentially cut off the tip of her FINGER without even letting me know what he was about- and I would have stopped his sorry ass right there- to do or giving me any options. No, warning, no anaesthetic, nothing. My poor dog let out a shriek you would not believe. This guy's a fucking butcher and I am bitterly sorry I didn't dime him out to whatever board governs vets right to practice.
The folks at Park Slope Animal health are pretty much the opposite of that. -
So happy Lady Day is HOME!!!!! I've been so paranoid about leaving my dog since, and will always think twice.
Re:vets...I know they are expensive but we only have glowing this to say about Dr. Karen Mateyak at Animal Kind Vet Hospital on 7th @ 11th street.
718-832-3899. Also Dr Mark Gibson (owner) and Dr. Stronger (Ms.)
Hope this helpsxo
welcome home lady
