SPLIT TOPIC: Staying on topic

I find it amazing that the speech nazis are moving people's posts around whenever they want. I believe that is called censorship.
I am allowed to defend myself when attacked.
People should also be allowed to see it unedited.

  • This is a moderated board, and one that is privately owned. We are all enjoying this resource due to the hospitality of the site owner, DailyHeights.
The rules for this site are posted at the top of every page, under READ THE RULES. If you don't want to follow these basics, please go elsewhere.

One of the things the moderators do is keep topics ON TOPIC. When you try to derail a thread with off-topic discussion, you can expect your post to be moved or split off in one way or another. For instance, a thread where gyms are being discussed is not the place to post about how this board is run. This policy has nothing to do with Nazis, btw.

You and others with a financial interest in Slope Fitness have a ridiculous history of posting on this board, so the mods called you out pretty quickly on the latest gym thread. On the topic of financial interest, I give you Alafairnadia . . .
alafairnadia wrote: shilling is obnoxious. plenty of people who post regularly on this board have financial interest in one or more local businesses. sometimes they discuss their businesses. guess what they ALSO do? they post a disclaimer toward the end of their post saying something like "fyi, for full disclosure, I have a financial stake in this enterprise".

sorta like when NY1 ALWAYS discloses if a business owned by Time Warner is part of one of their stories.

this practice is generally referred to as honesty.

if you have a stake in a business in the local area, go ahead and tell us. better yet, post in the classifieds or buy an ad - this board isn't free and internets don't grow on trees. people will respect you and your business more if you are honest, straightforward, and stop acting like you really want a RICO indictment.
  • I did not derail it.
I was defending myself against your accusations.
If anything, I was advocating the Y to the person who started the post.
You are the one, who began this whole thing.
