NYPD on PPW?

Did anyone notice the weird NYPD "steakout" box on a crain thing at PPw and 9th street this morning, complete with obtrusive video cameras pointing into the park? what's up with that? I took a picture but can't figure out how to link it to this...[/img]

  • Yum, steakout!
  • I think that's the thing that's been making its home in Crown Heights for the last year or so.

Here's the link to the thread
  • Maybe it was for the St. Patrick's Day parade yesterday. They need extra security?

    A guess.
  • That sounds like a good guess, although ridiculous that they'd *need* it.
    Is it still there?

Hahaha good point. I watched part of the parade and, yeah, I'm pretty sure that kinda NYPD presence was not needed. ParK Slope does not get that rowdy!

Oh and I did not notice the thing there today, I forgot to look for it, but it's not the sort of thing you can easily miss, so I guess it must be gone, or very well camouflaged.

Yes, it does. Why else would all those recent posters be asking about the safety in the danger zone that is Park Slope and the F-train?

The Streeteasy forum is also full of people asking how safe the nabe is. Is this a new troll campaign or a lot of over-anxious people finally 'discovering' Brooklyn?
  • I'm imagining the "Highway to the danger zone" song (from top gun?), only with... "F-train to... the DANGER ZOOOOOOONNNEEE!"
