Every Police Officer that I've ever worked with can tell me their hire date without hesitation. Ask them the birthday of their significant other and it might be a different story, but every cop has the 20-year countdown clock goin'.
  • I guess that other people dont' feel the same way, but I'm quite happy with the police presence on my block. I feel like there are almost always police around just patrolling in their cars or on foot, which makes me feel safe. My mom is here from out of town, and this is her first time in Brooklyn. She told me she had expected to be a little scared, but was actually impressed, especially by the police presence here.
  • That last post was me by the way. sorry!

I wonder how many donuts they eat in those 20 years?
  • where were the damn cops at 530 am today when kids decided to get an early start on the day outside my window. 530 am listening to the goddamn radio! not even a cd!?!?! so not only did i have to put up with ear splitting music, but ear splitting commercials and dj interludes. back in my day we slept in on weekends, kids these days.

oh and i also learned that rockstar parking just outside my building, is not at all as "rockstar" asyou would believe...it becomes the hangout car.

Dunkin Donuts opens at 530 am.

that reminds me of a morning show contest that some radio station would have back in my hometown, called cop or no cop. they would be out cruising in their radio station mobile and pass by a dunkin donuts at any given location within their listening range. then they would take the tenth caller and if they guessed whether there was a cop or not in a dunkies lot, they would win something. it was a hoot.
