  • I could not have said it better Cupcake!!

I'm a relatively recent Daily Heights poster, but can I make a suggestion?

Let's turn off the ability for guests to post. If you can't at least register, why add noise to the discussion?

This has been discussed before, quite a lot. For the time being, we're leaving it on and dealing with annoying people one by one.

Just for the record: DH, DaveB, and I (and maybe one or two others?) have the ability to check IP addresses. So if you're logging out to post snarky things, we still know it's you. And we laugh at you behind your back.

And now back to BAKING! I wish I still had summer hours so I could spend all of next Friday afternoon baking!
  • Emily M, now that we have all the details ironed out here, shall we start a new topic, "A Call for Baked Goods" for people who want to participate but didn't have the patience to read this whole thread? Or do you think all the hard core bakers are here? Also, do you think we can get on the front page of Daily Heights closer to the big day?
  • It might be easier to change the name of your original post than start a new one. I think having lots of threads on the same topics gets confusing, but that might just be me. Whatever you think is best.

Both Isa and I can post on the main blog, so just remind us on Wed/Thurs or so, and it can be done.

Me too...the posting, not the baking.
  • We all know what baking you do Dave
  • Okay, how do I change the name of my original post?
  • If you make flyers I am sure all of the merchants would be glad to let you put them in their stores. Let me know:)
  • Subject: Repost of the new Introduction to this thread:

Now that we've got the details ironed out, heads up that the Fundraiser Bake Sale will be Sunday September 18th at PS 9 on St. Mark's between Vanderbilt and Underhill. It starts at noon and goes until the goodies go or until we all collapse into a group sugar coma. Come by, make a donation, get yer cake on, chat with the Daily Heights Hotties.

If you'd like to bake for the sale you can drop off anything you make at the site between 11:00 - 12:00 noon for us to wrap it and price it. If you can volunteer to "man the booth", let us know. If you'd like to bake but can't drop off your goods at that time, send a PM to Cupcake, Stacey, or Isa.
  • I've been out of town and just caught wind of this thread... I can't bake but I would be more than happy to sell, wrap, put signs up, whatever. I live in the new Jewish Hospital and there are a lot of young folks there who don't know about this site I could throw some flyers in the hallways about the bake sale, etc.
  • I've been out of town and missed the date/time selection vote. Unfortunately, I'm working overnight Saturday and Sunday, so I won't be out during the day on Sunday. You guys will have to try my Alsatian meat pie another time (except Isa, Rhodamine and the other herbivores).

I hope the sale is a success! Good luck, guys.
  • Thanks for your support, Carnivore. Maybe someone will save you some yummies. Not feeling a lot of bake sale love out there today, I'm sure this thread has worn tired to all those not interested in participating.

KateBklyn, maybe you could contack Isa about flyers. If you're interested in wrapping, pricing, selling, you can show up between 11am and noon.
  • Sounds good, I will be there at 11am.
  • I have a bachelorette party the night before, but depending on how the night goes I will try to bake something and come by before 12. I think this is a great idea.
  • Sweet. If you can't make it until after noon BlueDove, come by later and maybe you could relieve somebody.

You know what's great for a hangover? Cupcakes.

I'm looking forward to meeting everyone.
  • So Cupcake will you be baking cupcakes? Also, the link to the blog in your sig don't work.

Heh. You haven't met my hangovers

But yes, I will definitely come by at some point, hopefully earlier than later.
  • Isa wrote: So Cupcake will you be baking cupcakes? Also, the link to the blog in your sig don't work.
Actually, I'm much more of a cupcake consumer than a cupcake baker. Just want to put that out there now. But yes, for the big day I have decided I want to bake cupcakes from scratch complete with homemade buttercream icing and I got a recipie from famous San Francisco Cupcake Baker Chockylit

So having never used this recipie before, and rarely preparing whole desserts from scratch, I'm going to have to test bake a lot of these puppies.

I think I fixed my blog tag.
  • Isa wrote: Bake Sale to raise money for the Houston Food Bank
And here I am thinking there's a food bank on Houston St that I never saw. But what I don't know can fill a warehouse. I'll try and drop off some banana bread but you got to promise you won't eat it all cause it's soooooo good.
  • It looks like I'll be brunching in lovely PH this Sunday really close to the sale, so I'll try to drag everyone in our little group over and make 'em drop some dimes on whatever you guys cook up. Like I'm going to have to drag any of these people when I tell them there are cheap homemade cupcakes a block away!
  • I will miss this... One of you should post a nice notice on the dailyheights.com blog, like, Thursdayish. If you don't have posting privileges yet, e-mail or PM me.
  • Looks like rain on Sunday. Should we do next weekend or hope for the best?
  • Isa wrote: Looks like rain on Sunday. Should we do next weekend or hope for the best?
Well, Weather Channel.com is saying scattered showers 30% chance...doesn't sound too threatening...
  • I think we're going to have to go for it. Can we move it indoors if need be?
  • I saw that it will be nice Sunday - but I go with the flow if everyone wants - I assume you mean move it indoors to the school - if so, Im not sure but I can ask.
  • Should I not post on teh main blog til we can figure out if we can go indoors?
  • Oh, I hope we don't have to reschedule! I've been gleefully baking all week (things that freeze well, that is)!
