Best Brunch Place, drinks included??

Hey,
So does anyone have a good idea of places to go for brunch, drinks included or any other good deals? I went to Belleville and will never go back. Service was atrocious (excuse my spelling) and the food was not great either, especially for the manhattan prices... I have guests coming soon and want to take them somewhere nice but not too pricey. Any thoughts?

Subject: sotto voce

as of about a year ago, sotto voce on 7th ave had some kind of prix-fixe unlimited-drink brunch thing. i found my eggs to be runny and never bothered to go back, but the place does seem to attract a crowd on nice days.

also, iirc, one of the owners is a frequent poster to the chowhound.com forums, so at the very least, they're web community-savvy.

Subject: affordable brunches

ah, i missed that stipulation in your original post. "donuts" around 7th ave/9th st is pretty affordable, as is dizzy's at 8th ave/9th st. i don't have any idea if they serve drinks, tho.

personally my favorite affordable brunch is bagels and muffins eaten in a friend's apartment...

Ah thanks. yeah honestly I enjoy a bagel and a couch just as much as the next guy, but after having moved from 'the city' (i.e. manhattan), when guests come for the weekend i feel the need to somehow not so much 'impress' them but to show them that brooklyn can be very much the same and indeed at times even nicer (price for brunch and a bloody mary), ha... i'll do my scouting, am sure i'll find something. I'll look up iirc, haven't heard of that one - does it stand for something?

Johnny Mac's on 8th and 12th has my favorite bloody mary's in the slope. They aren't included in the price of brunch, but are $5 for a pint glass and delish. The brunch food (especially the specials) is also great.

12th Street which is right across the street is another good option for brunch. Great food and service. Not sure if drinks are included though.

Beso on Fifth Ave at Union/President is funky cute and has some decent food along with brunchy mayhem.

I had a delicious brunch a Moutarde a year or two ago, it's more like Belleville but without the bullsh*t. (I don't go out for Brunch much myself anymore, it's not my scene or sked, but I am a fiendish restaurant watcher)

Night and Day on Fifth Ave at the corner of President is the most promising of all for Good Brunch, but again no idea about the drink included thing. They just started serving breakfast during the week too. They seem to be more in the category of Stone Park or Applewood.

Or Two Boots, just off Seventh Ave -- they have relaxed mayhem (occasional bands of children rise up there), tasty brunch. Good steak and eggs and other standards.

I haven't been there yet, but it look sgood - there's an Italian place on Union, right next to the Co-Op that has fancy brunch with unlimited mimosas. I can't remember the name either, not much help.

hey wow - thanks for all that - the unlimited mimosa thing sounds great. i've been meaning to try Beso too. Two Boots i know from manhattan - LOVE their pizza, so glad there's one close by here in Park Slope!

i second the vote for night and day, went there on a whim once and was very pleased.. and outside seating if its nice out! also dizzy's is always a good one, but it can get busy and you may have to wait... but you get good mini muffins and berry butter with brunch.

The prixe fixe brunch at Night and Day is pretty good. $15 (or maybe $14?) gets you coffee or tea, an alcoholic drink, some mini muffins or croissant, and your choice of a big breakfast entree. The muffins/croissants are out of some big box and just ehh, but the entrees are quite respectable.

I've tried Belleville and Moutarde and will never go back to either. What crap. The brunch at St. Mark's Bistro is fine, but not really worth the crowds and spotty service. Cocotte's brunch is pretty good, and I think their baked goods are homemade.

Rosewater isn't always as good as it used to be but it remains my favorite. The add-ons to the prixe fixe will kill you, though. And I don't think I've ever ordered a drink there.

hi. just an 'fyi' the Two Boots in Park Slope is not owned by the same people who own the Manhattan Two Boots so all the wonderful things you might love about the Manhattan ones are not at the Two Boots here... such as the vegan earth mother, and the white cheese pizza or whatever it is and basically all the fun, funky, interesting pizzas. I don't know why their pizza selection is boring. but it's still an okay place.

In Park Slope, I would recommend brunch at Rosewater on Union Street between 5th and 6th Avenue. More interesting brunch items than most place with a mediterranean flair and fresh squeezed juices. I don't think drinks are included but they aren't very expensive.

Two Boots (on 2nd st.above 7th) serves up a great brunch. And this is a great time of year to take advantage of their outdoor dining area.

12th Street (@8th av) has fabulous food and exellent service.
Not sure if drinks are inluded, but they are both reasonably priced.

My favorite brunch spot (involving a quick bus or train ride) is Patois on Smith St.(north of Sackett?). One Mimosa or virin Bloody Mary included. The food & service are sublime - for dinner too.

Applewood has great brunch, don't think drinks are included, but get there early, there's always a wait!
