ph/ch/etc advice/help
I'm sure y'all dislike this type of post, but I'm in need of a little assistance.
I'm currently living in Chicago, moving back to Brooklyn this July/August. Stayed in the PH/CH area about five years ago, on Park Place right by Franklin, then at various points lived in Bushwick, Williamsburg, Bed Stuy, and Tribeca (don't ask).
I love living by the park, the library, etc, and I think I need to live somewhere in the Prospect/Crown Heights/Lefferts/Flatbush/Ditmas area. I also loved living in Bushwick, but there's no good veggie Caribbean food and it's far too long a walk to get soy ice cream on Brooklyn Ave.
I've been freaking out a little bit lately, checking craigslist classifieds at work and fretting about being able to find an affordable place in a pretty limited time. I probably won't be able to make it out there until July 15th, and really need to be in a place within 2 or 3 weeks. Anyone have any good tips for finding something in the 'hood? Good landlords, websites I can check out, words of wisdom, anything?

Are you looking to buy or to rent? Price range?
I'm moving out of my reasonably priced PH 1BR in a month or two. If this interests you feel free to contact me, [email protected]. -
Subject: looking to rent
I remember huge two-bedrooms for $7-800 a few years back (and even that hurt, coming from Detroit where $800 got you an entire 3-story Victorian house), but I guess that kind of deal is ancient history.
Looking at between $1000-$1400, pet-friendly, a large one bed or 1.5 or 2 bed for myself, my girlfriend, our two cats, and a room full of books. -
you won't find anything less than $1500
try bedstuy do or die -
Subject: No so...
My housemate and I pay $1300 for a large two-bedroom. Not the best building (finicky hot water, elevator doesn't always work) but we like the apt.
Try contacting Alma Realty - (not that I love them, but...) they manage ours, and have several buildings in the area.
Howdy, Stranger!
