frances la grecaDebbie-
I know exactly what you are going through. My son was in the Navy for 4 years. He was stationed in Ingleside Texas and was shipped out on Mother's day 2005 to (what he told me was Bahrain, but really was) Iraq.
If you want to cry and you will, just cry. I broke down in the street and was squatting in a corner hysterical. I never cried that much in my whole life. things happen in life, I thought the worst was losing my parents.
The positive side of it is that these guys are so highly trained and they form a brotherhood. They have not only their eyes but everyone's eyes.
When I felt the need to talk to someone who knew my feelings, I jopined an online group NAVYMOMS. It helped because I felt like someone was tearing my heart out of my chest.
I really was so out of hand writing to the president, my neighbors swore the secret service was watching me. It was just too much.
Another good thing that came out of it is I was divorced and I had two other boys home and they were getting a little out of hand. My son was thinking of continuing his career in the Navy but wanted to come home to help me with my teenage sons. He came home, went to college and is an engineer. He works with a great company and is very responsible.
The Navy made a man out of him. Yes, I missed those 4 years of him being home but for some reason, it was supposed to be this way.
Just this past summer he told me he was in Iraq. I asked him if her was afraid of getting killed (God forbid) he said, "No, my brothers were with me." Now he is very good friends with those new brothers.
Believe me, I am crying just writing this but your son will be okay.
I will pray everyday for your son.
Join the online group. It really helps because these Moms help.
Be strong Debbie and God bless you and your family. -
