Time Warner cable internet issues in North Slope — Brooklynian

Time Warner cable internet issues in North Slope

I'm new to this board, but I'm really frustrated and wondering whether anyone else in North Slope (I'm on 6th Ave., just south of Flatbush) is having terrible issues with their cable internet. For the past three weeks, my connection has gone in and out, sometimes staying out for hours at a time, other times one minute connected the next minute not. It's far worse in the hours right after work and on weekends, much better late at night or mid-workday (my roommate is home then and has no problem). They sent someone out, who said the signal was imbalanced, and applied some sort of antenna hardware, which did nothing. They can't get to the box from my apartment because we're hooked up to a box in a neighboring building's backyard. Is this common? Is it possible that this is happening because so many people are hooked up to one box? Does anyone have any suggestions for actually getting this fixed. (I've already called three times and waited on hold upwards of half an hour each time, plus had one visit.) If anyone is having the same problem or can offer ideas for actually getting something done rather than having someone who doesn't know what they're doing come out, I'd really appreciate it. This is maddening!

  • YES! I hate TWC, but still have them. Plenty of issues as you listed and plenty of visits. I finally got sick of all the problems and at one point didn't have cable for over a month and called to complain at the CEO's office. They put me through to someone else who escalated the issue and had the tech out to rewire the building (again) and area as well. No majaor issues since then!

How did you get through to the CEO's office?

The city has a superb department with the acronym DoITT. Go to their website
at http://www.nyc.gov/html/doitt/html/home/home.shtml and see what's there. When I had a problem several years ago I wrote directly to the commissioner. I had a service call within days, a phone call from TW and 2 months of free cable with all my previous premiums and internet service.
  • Thanks for all of this info. I've got one more scheduled appt. (after having asked to talk to a supervisor who knew something--the first person I talked to recommended that I call Apple!) and if it doesn't work this time, to the DOITT I go. I appreciate all your advice!
