Are you seriously offended by communities that have standards? -
you failed to reply to my original question. why were you offended by a picture of a naked guy?
i am not offended by communities that have standards. i am also not offended by the community (windsor terrace, park slope, brooklyn, new york city) that you have been spending a lot of time trying to change. i lived near salt lake city for 2 yrs, and was describing a scene that might better suit your standards. instead of taking all your time to try to change a community with lower (or just different) standards, pack up and move to one that fits. then you could spend your time just being happy and doing something constructive instead of playing vigilante with a constant scowl in your voice. -

That's what makes the horse race. -

That's the rhetoric of a coward.
If living near Salt Lake was too stringent for you, then I understand your need to relocate.
But it sounds like your tolerance of aberrant behavior may be based in low self-esteem.
Being tolerant of others, so they'll be tolerant of you...
For you to try and criticize someone who's attempting to maintain a decent standard of existence in his community is laughable. -
yawn.

I'm with brooktrout.
Fat nekkid guys need billboards too.
Or, sometimes two.
Depending on the size of the fat nekkid guy.
I would think that having billboards up of fat nekkid guys would help raise their self esteem.
And mine too. -

I demand to see more billboards of nakkid sexy men NOW -
there was always this billboard above a gay bar in portland oregon (yeah lived there too for three years - worked right near the homeless street kids that congregated on yamhill on the MAx line... ) that advertised a gay dating service with two nekkid buff guys embracing. as a straight guy, i still was not offended.
-
You asked for it - you got it!
-
So, uh, is that sexy enough for you Mamacita?

Honestly, I frequently see worse than that in my neighborhood. Mostly posters for professional "parties" with scantily clad black women.
As a parent, I would prefer to not see the nekkid guy or mostly nekkid girl posters, but it really isn't high on my list and nothing I would complain over.
FWIW.
At least these ones. Put up a goatse poster for me to have to explain to my kids and I might get perturbed. -
i guess that's what i am confused by. this doesn't offend me at all. i was never morbidly obese. i watch what i eat, avoid fast food, and run a few times a week. i don't find it funny either. it's a pretty poor example of marketing. but i just don't understand the need to work so hard to take it down.
so i ask again in all honesty - what part of this offends you? if obesity offends you why not boycott good ol' micky d's. or offer your time as a counselor at a weight watchers program. is it the nudity? -
brooktrout = closet nekkid fat guy luvah
Yup.
OK, maybe I'm projecting.
I'm going to go take a cold shower now.
-
BTW- How the fuck did this get from selling alcohol to inebriated winos to the slippery beast that is the definition of obscenity?
-
2 Fatties 1 Cup.
A BIG cup! -
[quote=Hamilton]You asked for it - you got it!

My eyes!! ACK!
Hamilton, you did NOT bring sexy back! -

Huh? Did someone say sexy back?

You may have found the only thing that can stop the sexiness of the Wolf T-shirt.
-
Come now, it just needs to be styled.

I don't know or care where you reside , but there wasn't much time spent having this repulsive billboard removed, in fact all it required was one phone call and this garbage was removed to the delight of women and Mothers who were subjected to it..
Thats what happens when people take control of their neighborhoods.
By the way, nobody cares about your diet or your running program or your comfort level viewing posters of naked gay guys embracing..
Your whine seems to be based on the fact that the community I live in has higher standards than you can abide by, so if you can't cut it in a family-based community,
you are the one who should move on. -
still no real response from hamilton as to why this stuff truly compels him to be the town vigilante...

It's a very simple answer that you can't or won't comprehend.
It's called Quality of Life.
It's probably too simple an answer for someone like you.
And , by the way there is a network of residents in Windsor Terrace who also push to live a better life.
Thats the way we like it -

^^ I believe Van Gogh would have named this one "Hairy Night." -
Hamilton wrote: I'm fortunate enough that I don't have to work.[sorry about that]
Ironic, but completely unsurprising, that a non-working individual with so much free time is so preoccupied and bothered by his/her neighborhood's unemployed.
If you want to get into a pissing contest, I 'don't have to work' either, but I choose to - mostly for the reason that I'm afraid with so much free time on my hands, I'll find myself on campaigns to take down billboards of fat guys in the name of protecting Windsor Terrace's soul. Truly, something to be mighty proud of. -
In some countries, taking down the fat guy is a major honor.

I'm sorry you're upset with me for having the billboard of a fat repulsive naked guy taken down.
I didn't mean to deprive you of the pleasure you received from it.
You're stating you work to prevent yourself from doing something beneficial for the neighborhood.
That's so sad.
Your obsession with my successes are taking on the appearance of a stalker.
Seek help. -
I didn't know Hamilton had moved into the PS board. I was used to he/she/it on the bed-stuy board...
-
Wow- (pulling up a chair)-glad I have this thread to watch since Gossip Girl just finished its season!

i am happy "our" community has high standards. I hope that these standards are based on a friendly smile and good-morning on a sunday afternoon, or a random act of kindness such as picking up trash on your neighbors stoop, tipping your favorite coffee barista, getting to know the less fortunate by listening to their stories and maybe donating some clothes to the homeless, perhaps thinking of ways to help their self-esteem, maybe donate a suit so they can look presentable for a job interview, oh...wait these are things i do.
i abide by the highest standards based on simple humanity and non-biased friendly smiles (perhaps learned in such places as salt lake city and portland) that only adds to our neighborhood. you sir, hamilton, seem to only have a saccharin smile, an acidic tongue, and a knack for spinning the viewpoints of posters on a message board. and clearly you have no sense of humor. (props to hairy night)
Your whine seems to be based on the fact that the community I live in has higher standards[b] than you can abide by
my whine i now realize really is a disgruntled pissing contest that i was cleverly seduced into engaging in by you. -
I hate to burst your balloon, but I do tip when i buy coffee ,say hello to people in the street, come to the aid of those who are ill, give clothing, food and money to those who live in the street .
I know most of the addicts and speak with them on a daily basis, the only thing I'm remiss on is picking up my neighbors garbage, I'll have to work on that.
The fact I interact with Obamanut and you proves I have a healthy sense of humor.
You can critique me all you want , but as I mention earlier , who cares what you or Obamanut think , so whine on,or move on.. -
Geez, y'all are arguing and arguing when you could be posting fat nekkid guys.
Or hairy guys.
Whatever.
Anyway, someone secretly sent me a pic of a poster ON THIS THREAD. A secret spy pic! I'll leave it to you to figure out if it is Hamilton, brooktrout, or Obamanut, but it certainly must be ONE of them.
Howdy, Stranger!
