WORST pedicure ever

well, ever since i went to school for nails, i havent gone anywhere but Dashing Diva for a manicure. Looked clean...she tried reusing an orangewood stick, but i told her not to. As far as the implements, they were sterilized and the file and buffer were new. I havent gotten a pedicure there though.
I do wanna try Cure Beauty Bar in Ft. Greene. Looks promising. -

i've heard that the real problem is the drain b/c even if it is sufficiently clean, the fungus can hide below the cleanable level - since it is a drain and you then re-fill it. this is what a MD told me. and she also said that people with nail fungus all seem to have gotten from nail salons, thus... they go to nail salons with the fungus, stuff isn't clean... eek! -

Yeah, I think I'll try to do my own. -
You guys shouldnt be scared!!
Just dont go to any old nail salon because its cheaper...
be cautious of where you stick your toes...!
I *love*love*love* getting pedicures, but Im aware of my surroundings...
if the place looks unsanitary, it probably is. -
I used to go to Polish on 5th but last time I went, I took my nose out of the Us Weekly long enough to notice that the manicurist didn't clean the tools. So I asked her to please clean them, and she kept saying that they were clean. I didn't want to get into an argument (even though I knew for a fact that they hadn't been sanitized- they were just sitting in a dirty cup and the gunk was visible!), so I just asked her to get a fresh set to be sure. She talked to the manager who instructed her to fake clean them just to appease me! She put them in the autoclave thingie for less than a minute then took them back out. I was furious and left.
My question is this- if they clearly have the equipment to sanitize the tools, why not use it? This can't be an expense that breaks the bank, right?
I went to Element spa about a block down and they appear to be cleaner, quicker, more professional. And they have a weekday special. -
i like Dashing Diva, too. i have been scared off of pedis for a while because i got nail fungus from a place in manhattan that my boss recommended...i noticed it relatively quickly but it still took 8 months prescription cream to get rid of it--way more gross than clean bare nails.

which nail salon in manhattan was this, jane_birkin? you know u can call 311 and get them inspected. Salons dont regularly get inspected -- only when there are complaints filed against them.
Howdy, Stranger!
