Are you saying Jack Maple had nothing to do with Compstat.

Right. The guy with four kids is going to teach me about them...

Looks like this thread went from liquor being sold to someone who was bombed and laying on the sidewalk looking like he was waiting to be beamed up to the Mother Liquor Store in the Sky and wound up being a I Love My Condom testimonial.
I can't wait to see what the next twist will be. -

I think Giuliani's too busy repeatedly reminding everyone "hey, I was mayor on 9/11." -
I wonder how long it took before Paul Revere stopped telling people I'm the guy that said , The British are coming ,The British are coming.

Giuliani is no Paul Revere. -

Giuliani is no Paul Anka...but that's mainly because Paul Anka is Canadian. -

Giuliani is no Paul Revere.

Your right Giuliani is not an urban legend glorified by a Longfellows poem. -
Hamilton wrote: It's odd no one mentions Jack Maple
I'm pretty sure that he is mentioned in that article, no? He is acknowledged by some (probably not by Rudy or eggcream, but certainly by Bratton). -

anybody else read that and think for one happy moment that guiliani died in 2001?
(/ducks)

If it there wasn't a Dinkins there wouldn't have been a Guiliani
-
Anyone see the article in today's Times about Guiliani's son's lawsuit against Duke for removing him from their golf team for misbehavior?
It's good to know that the arrogance and sense of entitlement will live on, long after Rudy dies! -
When ever I see Andrew on TV it brings back the memory of his conduct at his Fathers 1993 coronation,I thought it was the funniest thing I had ever seen , it appeared he was possessed by Jerry Lewis.
I guess now he'll never be known as "Americas Golfer" -

I am sorry so what is your solution?
I believe everyone has the right to live as they wish, but not the right to interfere with the lifestyle of others.
1. stopping the liquor store from selling to drunks.
2. Harassing the drunks with the police who should be figuring out who is breaking into cars every night?
Why not engage WTA and the community to HELP these guys find shelter in the neighborhood? they don't WANT to live away from their community and in Queens. they want to live where they KNOW people. Is that so hard to understand? They may be junkies and mentally ill and it might be unpleasant to see them, but they lived in WT before you and they aren't trash to be tossed aside. But I agree, they do often have their pants off and so I personally just cross the street, but if it bothered me, I would try to find them some kind of shelter to go to sleep off their binges -
Do you think it's Ok to sell liquor to people who staggering into the liquor store and wind up sleeping on the sidewalk.
I'm sure the Police Dept ignores all crime and uses all it resources to swoop down on the street people of Windsor Terrace.
Apparantly you are not aware of the fact the that Police help them to get entered into programs for housing, alcohol and drugs abuse.
Is that harassment ?
You don't even know how long I been in Windsor Terrace , but to enlighten you I've been here before you and most of the street people you mention.
And as far as your statement they aren't trash and shouldn't be thrown aside leads to the Question, would you consider the followng trash:
A junkie who did 12 years for stabbing a cerebral palsy victim in the throat in an attempted mugging.
A junkie that steal people social security checks, burglarizing apartments in the neighborhood .
Drunks male and female who resided in the circle throwing bottles at each other and almost hitting passerby's.
Is that hard for you to understand.
You can solve the problem by yourself by simply letting them live in your apartment with you.

I just went by The PPW soon to be opened liquor store and the stained glass panels are being reinstated ,they look great.

And if it wasn't for Ardolph Loges Kline, there wouldn't have been a John Purroy Mitchel. -
The difference between Guiliani and Mitchel is Guiliani would have used a parachute while leaving a plane at 500 feet.

Back on the topic of the fellows who like to drink and pass out in front of the liquor store, I had a charming encounter the other night. I got off the subway and stopped by Lia's to get some gelato (doing my part to support local businesses with no thought to my weight!) and had just purchased my cup and put a big spoonful in mouth and was walking toward PPW when one of the gents, with a brown bag in hand, drunkenly asked me what time it was.
With a mouthful of very cold gelato, I could not respond right away, so even though I clearly had a mouth full of food, he was not happy that I did not respond to him, so he said "Well f*ck you, assh*le". I just gotta say, regardless of how attached some people are to these guys, it is not that fun to work a long day, straggle home on the subway and then get cursed at walking home. Luckily, the gelato made up for it. Very good! But I am betting it would be better for business if there weren't people cursing at the customers who patronize the place. -
I just found out today that one of the former liquor store regulars, Joe Carrar aka "Joey," passed away about a month ago due to blood poisoning. His body finally gave out from the abuse he put it through over all those decades. Joe was a neighborhood kid who grew up on 12th St and went to Bishop Ford High School around the time my parents were kids and was known by most everyone in the Slope/Terrace neighborhood until the community was gentrified and scattered in the last decade or so.
Well there you go Hamilton, that's one gone so that makes how many left to start counting? Sweat, Hop, etc... -
