Franklin Park (fka New Bar on St. John's and Franklin)

I think the grill is new. I saw it for the first time on Sunday but that is also the first time I have been there when it was still light outside.
-
On my way to FP right now (11:00) to hang with some lurkers. Feel free to join us if you're around.
-
I was there from like 11pm to 1 am, probably crossed paths without even knowing. When I'm there, I'm usually the guy writing in 3 open notebooks with crazed out hair. Don't be shy about saying hi, I just like to write at bars.
-
I know they are grilling tomorrow after 5 pm, have fun i will be at the concert listening to the Symphony!
-
Just saw this on Ny Mag

Nice to see them getting more exposure. I still haven't been able to catch the grill there though...
I haven't had the Captain Lawrence they talk about yet either. Anyone have this? What's it like? -
The Captain Lawrence is gone, i think Barrette still has it so you might have to go there to sample it. They change beers every couple of weeks so if you had a type of beer one week 3 weeks later it might not be there. Try the French summer ale.
-
Cool. I don't mind them changing the beers, in fact I think that's awesome. I make a trek down to The Gate once a week in Park Slope for that very reason.
-
Guys tomorrow after noon starting at 4 pm till they run out of food, the grill at Franklin park will be open , so now you don't have to order crappy food .. Enjoy your grilled chicken and German potato salad without the bacon, so enjoy and maybe will see you tomorrow night.
Beer and food! -
Remember grill is up and running today!
-
So now you tell me . . . I brought takeaway there last night, and was surprised to see a grill set up. But they didn't object . . .
(FP is great.)
ps I'm pretty sure The Captain Lawrence is back. Or maybe my table was just talking about it :? -
Maybe stopping by later tonight. If you see a guy writing in a notebook feel free to say hi, I welcome the interruption. The hair isn't as crazy any more though is it is in my pic, I chopped about half of it off.

Looks like Franklin Park is about to acquire more indoor space, thus answering the "what the hell are they going to do in the wintertime" questions:

I saw they were up to something. So Franklin now on that side will have two bars and a boutique. Hopefully this will have an impact and upgrade the laundromat and the three bodegas on Franklin between St. John's and Lincoln. By the way how many bodegas does one street really need? On the above mentioned street including the east side there are four...
-
All those freakin bodegas, and NOT ONE sell my brand of smokes...
-
so.. Franklin Park is taking the old hardware store on Franklin? I can't get my crossing streets together now, so i might be saying something totally silly here but...is the "new" place going to be connected with Franklin Park from the back [if that's possible] or is it going to be it's own "identity"? it doesn't seem clear to me from the article.
That would be great, although i wish someone would open up a good hardware store on Franklin. The guy on Washington can be very friendly and helpful sometimes, but for such a big store, he doesn't carry a lot of stuff. -
so this bar worth going to for true?
-
Please dont go to the hardware store on Washington, search for my previous post. The one on Franklin near Bergen is fine.
-
The article states that the expansion will be an annex, so it will likely be accessible by the current indoor bar area. Great news! I really like Franklin Park and am impressed by how well the owners gauged neighborhood demand.
-
hi Burgerking, I saw your post about the hardware store. I can't believe Jerry pulled that s***t on you! That's so strange! He was usually nice and friendly to me...I go there sometimes because I try to support local stores, and the one of Franklin just doesn't cut it for me...I don't want to change the topic on this threat...food for thought!
peace, -
I've been there about 3 times... pretty cool
-
Seen at FP last night:
Tiny Baby: 11pm.
Dog parade: 10.30pm -
